61st time in Texas football history a father is coaching against his son. Father Todd Dodge is coaching for Austin Westlake and his son Riley Dodge is coaching for Southlake Carroll. Pretty cool story.

I am shocked as well. Almost in disbelief that this would be the first time in a state like Texas where HS football is its own religion and the population is as big as it is. Interesting.

This is so true. I was invited to the State Championships a few years back. I went expecting to see a HS football game. It was like being at LSU/Alabama. The sheer number of players and coaches, the equipment, the crowd was all like a major SEC game. It was in Texas Stadium. Blew my mind.

Kade and Kevin Burns are brothers and coached against each other numerous times, but always in different classifications. Both great guys.
my memory may be off for by a few years, but kevin coached in a 2A state championship game and then his brother coached in the 1A championship game right after.
