Jude Mike Ewrin is stepping down after four decades of service. He put it bluntly that it's time to hang it up.

The Gravy Chambers shitshow(not calling it a scandal b/c they were lying) is what is most current in his Google Searches and people's minds in Baton Rouge.

But Judge Erwin should be remembered for his dedicated service to the district and integrity in dealing with some seriously high profile cases and shitbags over 40 years. (Betty Smothers murder and Sons of Guns Pedo Will Hayden).

One thing I like to tell people about is how he didn't like to send non-violent criminals to prison or charge them unfairly high fines.
He made the news in the 90s for doling out prison sentences like writing lines or writing an apology letter to their parents for doing stupid shite.
That was a pretty important and bold departure from the status quo, considering he was a white judge in a city where the overwhelming majority of defendants shifted from 50/50 to an indisputably disproportionate number of young black men.

Here's to Judge Erwin and his wife Sue enjoying retirement and spending more time with their grandkids.

Good man. Hated that he got dragged through the mud with those fake allegations. frick Sammy’s for turning on him and adding fuel to the fire. I haven’t been since that happened and won’t ever go again.

Did the owner of Sammy's ever apologize to Judge Erwin after they proved that fat bitch lied about the whole thing?

It was the loss of the liquor license that finally did me in.

The food is overpriced and blah anyway, so that incident made it easy.

That short skirt comment is hilarious and I'm stunned he can get away with saying that in 2019. Or maybe he can't, which is one of the reasons he wants to retire.

In the 19th just Bonnie Jackson, and Curtis Calloway all in 1993/1994.

I've been before Don Johnson for traffic court around then as well.

Oh and two family court judges.

I had served on a jury in his court for a second degree murder trial a couple years ago. I'm pretty sure I caught him sleeping more than once.

I remember Irwin's accuser commenting on her arrest for embezzling money saying something to the effect that it was no big deal because everyone gets arrested for something. Amazing how "those people" think.

I wonder what her status is now? Probably got a high paying job at the COA.

It's basically Dempsey's type food except a larger menu. Not great but not bad.

I'm a close friend to the CEO of the employer she stole from. That shady bitch stole about $60-80k over 2 years or so by adding an employee to the payroll system and having the fake employee's check direct deposit into her account.
But my buddy is a big white straight dude but he's also a bleeding heart liberal. So, when they caught her, they were adamant about dropping the charges if she could pay something like 100-200/month till about half was paid back. It was all set up to be handled between his company and her. But she quickly stopped paying and(his words) "We HAD to turn her back in".

Honestly, thank goodness that skeleton was in her closet though, for Erwin's sake and the PR nightmare he faced.

That is far from his most "non-PC" quote. My favorite was when some defense attorney tried to get his client out of a murder charge by arguing he wasn't mentally competent. Which is the go-to argument these days it seems. Erwin said "I am pretty sure every criminal that gets caught these days is retarded. What's your next argument?"
