I remember sometime around 1991 my brother and I eating in there and got the 10 tacos for $5.90 deal and an old guy walked by and asked if we were going for the record. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

And into the early 1990s I believe. I definitely remember sitting in a drive-through line at 1 a.m. on a couple of occasions.

There was absolutely a Taco Bell there in 1998-2000. On the left if you were headed north. It was close to the fields where the band used to practice.
So where burger king is?

There was definitely a Taco Bell just further North from the Weinerschnitz...it burned sometime around the turn of the century.
Fun story, one night in the late 90's my roommate and I were walking there from our apartment on East State St. to get some late night tacos and were stopped by a distraught white mid 40's lady that was completely disheveled in appearance. She walked right up to us and stopped us by putting her hands on each of our shoulders. She then said in a desperate plea - "I need to find some crack."
As she was walking southbound on Highland towards campus we simply informed her to turn around and her luck was surely to change. Felt like I did my civic duty that night.

There was a Taco Bell on Highland when I was at LSU in the 80’s. It closed and Lyman White’s Buffalo Wing Express opened there. It changed again and I don’t remember what took its place.

Remember Pedro’s Tacos in a Taco Bell looking building in that area. They had a Pedro’s Special burrito that was the real deal.

So much mixed shite going on.
People saying diff spots where it was. Some posting pictures of not baton rouge, some saying it turned to something else, some say it burned down.

This is what probably took over after Lyman White’s.

Yep. We use to go to that Taco Bell when leaving the Bengal circa 1994.

Yes there was. As a pledge I had to recite the 59 cent menu for this one active in the house, then he would give us pledges money to go get him Taco Bell as he stumbled back drunk from Murphy's.
Strong chance we may be pledge brothers because I’m pretty sure I know exactly who you are talking about. Lol

There was and it burned down if I recall correctly.
Yep. It was at 2774 Highland Road. It opened in 1984.
From the 1995 Advocate article about a shooting at the Taco Bell Parking lot.
quote:
A 22-year-old man was shot in the leg Monday during an altercation in the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant on Highland Road.
Joseph W. Wisham, of 429 West Garfield St., was taken to Earl K. Long Medical Center, where he was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Wisham was booked into parish prison on counts of illegal discharge of a firearm and illegal carrying of a weapon, East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Col. Mike Barnett said.
Wisham was allegedly in the parking lot of Taco Bell restaurant at 2774 Highland Road shortly after noon when he and another person who was in the drive-through line began shooting at one another, Barnett said.
The second person left the scene in a red car and is still at large, Barnett said.
A witness to the shooting, said the red car had a female driver and the gunman was a male in the passenger's seat.

There was absolutely a Taco Bell there in the mid/late 90's. We would go after Murphy's closed. Not sure I've eaten it since!
