planned obsolescence is real. whether it's your car, phone, or whatever... they want that shite to break as soon as possible.

We had a Chrysler Cordova when I was a kid living in Germany. Rich Corinthian leather sucked arse in the winter.

Looks like it turns out the photo is staged where the original car that got rear ended was moved, and the owner of the Chrysler pulled up and backed up to the wrecked car and took a picture.
People are so fricking stupid and don’t question anything.

Modern cars have to meet safety standards and are designed to take the brunt of the impact vs your body taking the impact. Some of y’all are truly fricking retarded

New cars are intentionally designed with fiberglass and plastic pieces up until the fire wall where the airbags start so that the metal doesn't come back into the cab and kill you.

It's a purposeful safety feature and it's a superior.

Newer cars last 2-3 hundred thousand miles, cars the age of that Chrysler were lucky to make it to 100,000 miles.

Yes the bodies are lighter constructed (better fuel mileage) but modern cars have way longer lives.

Totally fake- there is a reddit thread from someone else in the accident that really got hit.

That's highly depends.

And now, a rock hits your windshield? 1K to fix because of the 20 cameras effected by changing it out. The auto industry is one of the biggest money grabbing scams going.

The modern car is safer. They're designed to absorb impact

Are you serious? Nothing about that picture made you go “hmm wait a second”?

Frightening.

The energy from the crash has to go somewhere. New cars absorb it, old cars it went to the people inside.

I would still rather have the old cars than new ones.

I saw that yesterday in my news feed.

It was so obvious, even at first glance.

The bigger story is that the 73 Chrysler isnt a rusted-out POS

This isn’t planned obsolescence, this is specific engineering designing vehicles to dissipate energy from a crash by breaking around the people inside, reducing the energy and impact felt by the passengers and severely reducing the likelihood of serious injury or death.

Eta
Didn’t read the community notes. Doesn’t make what I said incorrect but OP got duped
