I had this happen two weeks ago. Early 20's applicant, dad brought her to interview. But instead of staying in the car, he comes in and hangs out in the lobby (while she's interviewing in the back) spilling to staff about how immature and irresponsible his daughter is, but he's "proud of her anyway". She was not offered the job.

Dad needs his arse kicked

I used to think that the worst thing you could do at an interview was fart.

As long as managed appropriately and transportation isn’t an expected issue I’m not mad about catching a ride.having an engaged family is helpful with being a reliable employee. Flat tire? Sick kid? No shame in mom helping to avoid a call out.

But that’s not coming in with them

I totally agree. Years ago (pre Uber), I was dressed in my suit, plenty of time to get to the interview, but walk out and see I have a flat tire. Was on the side of the car not visible from my windows. Had driven the car a few hours earlier, so must have happened then.

My sister (much older than me, so could appear to be my mother) drove me there (didn't want to risk a cab not getting there on time), but she left and ran errands while I was in the interview.

So, I have no issues with someone getting a ride, but definitely not coming in or even staying at the location during the interview.

It’s a lot cooler to say you can’t find good people as opposed to saying you can’t afford to hire people at all.

Yup. Paying 2004 wages for an entry level position that you want 5+ years of experience for.

Not sure who they are talking to, but I've never seen it. Inappropriate language, yep. Literally had some drop a frick, shite, and bitch in an interview.
Sounds like a good morale boost hire.

Asked for unreasonable compensation doesn’t belong in the list with those other ones.

I find many managers are completely out of touch with what high level talents costs in todays world.

The rest of those are completely inexcusable. If you bring a parent to an interview you can kiss a job goodbye.

I’m sure you’re right, but even if it was only 1 per employer polled (~192 dipshits), what the frick? How does that even work? Is it like the Step Brothers scene, but with a parent??

My guess is the parent drives them and then waits in the reception area while the kid interviews. I highly doubt companies are allowing the parent to sit next to their kid and help give answers to questions.

Still ridiculous to bring your parent at all but I do think the idea that the parent is also in the interview room is probably false.

1) wtf is a lunch interview? What was the position?

2) kinda your fault for inviting a fatty to a free lunch and not being clear about the rules.

I can just imagine this dad talking to her future BF about how her mother is terrible in bed and she's probably the same

Every time one of these millenials bring their dad to the interview I end up hiring the dad. You can always trust a fellow boomer to do a good job, that’s why they call us the greatest generation

I hope ‘bringing a parent to the interview" just meant a ride, though that is pathetic enough.

Decades ago my husband taught at LSU. One student got a "C" on a paper , and her parent called raving that their kid was a "straight A student" in high school, like that was relevant. I guess the parent expected him to see his error and change the grade?

lol I saw a post on fb (yeah I know) from a mom regarding what color refrigerator she should buy for her daughter for college. The refrigerator will be in a cabinet that HIDES THE REFRIGERATOR.

This mom will be at her daughter’s first interview.

Money has nothing to do with it. You can get nice clothes at Goodwill.

If it’s entry level then why are you asking for experience?

It was a maintenance manager position for a oilfield service company. It was a replacement so i didn't want to have it at the office so told him to meet me for lunch.

HR wouldn't let me ask weight on the application.
