damn the uber knights are out quickly

I've only skimmed uber-related threads, but this amount of knighting for a cab company is both comical and alarming. But then again, look at what we have on the tech board.

Yeah, now I read the article.

She is claims they didn't know, which is absurd.

I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and assumed that it was because they used über to get there and saw the price when trying to leave but just used it to get back because they felt they had no other good alternative.

You start a thread thinking you're going to bash Uber, people call the woman out in the article for what she is, an idiot, the thread isn't going how you thought it would so now you resort to bashing everybody

It's pretty simple. It told her about surge pricing and she either didn't care it wasn't paying attention. This thread is a bunch of users attesting to that fact.

Uber isn't the perfect solution in every situation, more especially when they are charging surge pricing. But this article is stupid because she wasn't deceived by anything other than her own intellectual capacity.

Wow that must be an extreme example. I've used Uber in Atlanta, Houston and Dallas with the highest surge pricing at 3x.

No one is defending Uber as much as they are calling the chick in the story an idiot. You still can't tell the difference.

I've never used Uber. Can't even remember the last time I took any kind of cab. But I'm all for capitalism and personal accountability, unlike yourself. Maybe you should look into a move to Russia. I hear it's nice this time of year.

So you find it alarming that people support a company that offers an alternative transportation option that provides convenient methods for payment and communication while eliminating the annoying uncertainty of the "cab's" location relative to the consumer? Or is it alarming that people support an option that uses basic economic principles like supply as demand (which often saves he user money) without government interference, hidden costs, and crony capitalism?

if not, it seems like you're paying about the same or possibly WAY more than a taxi and padding uber's CEO's pockets.

Uber can be cheaper or it can be more expensive, but it is undoubtedly more convenient than any other transportation service. The great thing is people can CHOOSE! What a novel concept.
