Not practical, they have to be able to pass at some point.

But yeah, I've been behind two truckers driving in parallel for miles WAY too often. Cars too.

So options -

1) A ticket for blocking the left lane for more than 1/2 mile.

2) A passing lane on the left every few miles.

I'm pretty sure this crap is due to idiots on cell phones who aren't paying attention to their driving and just lock on to the speed of the nearest vehicle.

I have passed those guys on the shoulder and using on ramps 2 or 3 times when I felt I was safe to do so.

This is my favorite move. I love when I have enough space to pull it off.

Conducting some independent research for DOTD. Upvote if you think 18 wheelers should be restricted to the right lane. Downvote if you are fine with them hopping in the left lane and taking 40 miles to pass another vehicle. Thanks

Never understood why they do this. Pull into the passing lane on I-10 and go 60mph to pass another truck going 59.

Gonna go butt arse nutts one day.

I've thought this ever since I started driving.

they are in many states. I hate the ones that get in the left lane on the I-10 east past Causeway and ride the lane until after 610 meets back up with 10. No trucks in left lane in urban areas would be a great start. I'm fine with them passing out in the boonies two lane stretches.

Nothing worse than when two of them do an on purpose rolling road block

Because when driving a truck this scenario happens every single day.

And going just 1mph slower than your truck is limited to during the 11 hours of driving you are limited to every day at let's say $.41 per mile adds up to around $1500 lost in a year.

That's why people that ride slow in front of a truck, then speed up when the truck changes lanes, then slow back down when the truck pulls back behind said car are the largest of all douches.

It's one of the reasons I left over the road driving.

We deal with asshats 11 hours a day, yet the guy in a car held up for 3 minutes on his 15 mile commute to work thinks he has it bad.

Though to be fair MANY truck drivers are stupid asses too...

That's why I always had the decency to slow down a bit to let other trucks pass by quickly if I knew they were running faster.

Rant over...

TL;DR traffic sucks, and if you think someone on the road is a shite human being, they probably think the same about you.

My favorite is when you try to be a good human being by flashing your lights to let them in and they reward you by staying in the left lane and running a ten mile blockade. Never fails.

Overturned 18 wheelers can't change lanes.

If you look too closely at 18 wheelers in Baton Rouge, they will spontaneously tip over and block the freeway for hours....

...and the methed out driver will blame those "damn 4 wheelers".

There are incompetent jackasses in every field. There's just more in the trucking industry.

It's supposed to be this way on the Basin bridge but I'm often stuck behind an 18 wheeler passing in the left lane. I really don't think it's enforced because that bridge is always full of state troopers.

They do dumb annoying stuff for the same reasons some of your coworkers in an office or a plant do them, because they like to be annoying. A certain segment of the population enjoys being annoying so when they get bored or annoyed they respond with bad behavior

Carry the freight on a train instead of on the interstate.

So, build train tracks that roll past the back doors to every Walmart, grocery store, & department store?
