I choose my friends. My friends don’t choose me.

It’s easier to control your circle that way

Who the frick wants to go out to eat with 15 people??

Industry standard is gratuity is automatically added for parties of 6 or more.

I'm married with 3 kids and my oldest is engaged. I get gratuity added all the time.

Unfortunately for them they typically charge less than what I would tip.

Ironically its not chains that do auto gratuities the most.

Sounds like our boy is projecting.

One local place, and a nice one, automatically adds 20% tip for parties of 6 or more. I normally give more, but when they add it, that is all they get.

It was a party 20 people. That many people means it usually takes at least two people assigned to just that party in order to provide sufficient service. Those two people waiting that table aren't waiting on any other tables (thus cutting their potential tips dramatically, because large parties like that tend to stay longer).

The group has no out in this other than if the restaurant didn't tell them beforehand of a mandatory gratuity for large groups. Even then, the group members who left still earn the Dumbass & Assholery merit badges for thinking they deserve to take a frickton more resources yet not have to pay extra.

Yes, no shite. I was joking. Bud thanks for the lesson in Obvious 101, dipshit.

I bet they also worked wait staff with demands and sitting arrangements more than average customer.

Large parties having an automatic gratuity built in has been around for so long it’s ignorant to act surprised and offended. Being built into regular size party was starting to be come the norm with covid.

We also don’t tip 20% on alcohol. Food only

Alcohol gets around 10%

dude. If you'd tip more without the imposed gratuity, then you should add whatever more you'd have given to your server to the total bill. you shouldn't take it out on the server. they don't control the company policies

It’s comically sad that groups of folks will go into restaurants and then decide they don’t want gratuity included.

I have zero issues with restaurants cutting out parties over a certain number because if this. It happens way more than it should.

Also, places should stop doing group tabs. It’s cool if a person picks the tab up for like another person or so but not a large group. If they want that, then they just pay for each ticket.

From what I'm reading there was 18 people. You will almost always get called for that.

Places charge 18% which is less than I tip. But when it’s included I don’t tip more
