Define win. Body count, we won. The Jane Fonda’s of the world, paired with pussified government prohibited us from winning the war. Erase the DMZ, allow Laos and Cambodia to be fair game early on....they’d be eating apple pie and flying the Stars and Stripes today too. Keep on keepin’ on.

I lived in Vicksburg for two years. From my window I could see trench lines about 100 feet away ( Confederate Ave ) . Big berms. I went back a couple of months ago to take my family to the battlefield. Cool stuff.

Grants Vicksburg campaign is one of the greatest military feats in our history.
Wait, what? For crossing a few bayous and sitting around waiting on the defenders to starve? Please. If the Vicksburg Campaign proves anything it's the incompetence of the Confederate leadership in the West, not Grant's brilliance.

Are you kidding?
Look how long it took him to complete moving his army to lay siege.
The terrain alone was the worst an army could encounter. Rivers, bayous and flood plains.
He had his navy run the guns to give him a chance. Once below the guns he had to drive further south in the bayous to cross the river.
Once on the east side he masterfully defeated CS troops to snare them in a trap back at Vicksburg.
His engineering to move an army thy large to the areas it went are amazing.
You should read about his campaign there. It’s a reason his command during that campaign is STILL STUDIED in war colleges today. Today is 2018 BTW

Had Jackson been alive and transferred to the west, Vicksburg would not have fallen

There appears to be a lot of modern unpatriotic folk who would prefer to live in the CSA than the USA.
Sad. Deport them and replace with hard working Mexicans who actually love America.

Read the preamble.
Wait. I’ll help.
This is the foundation this country was built upon. Lincoln was in between a rock and a hard place. Still the shittiet president we ever had in my book.
American by birth. Southern by the grace of God.

I was replying in reference to

Are you suggesting the term "founding fathers" was referencing the confederacy or that the England actually won the revolutionary war?
Context is a key part of reading comprehension.

can you imagine how miserable the MS - LA line was.... fighting a war in full wool uniforms in the heat of July. Cheers to both sides toughing that shite out for the cause they each respectively believed in..

South was never going to win the war ; best they were hoping for was to hold steady until probably early 1864 where the North could’ve settled the war to end the bloodshed.
Take into account the growing anti-war sentiment in the border states, horrific Draft Riots in NYC, and the upcoming 1864 election where Lincoln would lose without any major Union victories. The pieces were definetly in place had Vicksburg or Gettysburg turned out differently
Get that informed reasonable shite out of here. This is a thread for calling people who died centuries ago, names, and feeling tough about it. If you don't like it...

Why does it sound so much that you are overcompensating for something? I mean really, there is a shite load of insecurity in your posts. Everything ok at home?

What is America if not for rebels in search of freedom to choose their own rulers for themselves? What exactly do you think the war for Independence was about if not for just that?

Why do you support anyone who takes up arms against our brave soldiers?
Which brave soldiers? The country was split. When Georgia sent their troops to fight under the Georgia state flag, they were supporting their brave soldiers, in as much as Massachusetts were supporting their brave soldiers when they sent them to fight under their flag. Quit being a child.

How fricking backwards is this place that this thread has a bunch of CSA sympathizers. Probably the same people that were wearing their American flag wife beaters, cargo shorts and flip flops last night while shooting bottle rockets in their ditch.

The union soldiers weren’t brave, they had way more of them. The southern soldier was happy in the knowledge that he was fighting for freedom from an oppressive federal government and rights for his state. Confederate soldiers are like modern Trump supporters and the union was the evil liberals
