It matters to a degree:

1. She could be free to call home at any point and chooses not to
2. She may not be held against her will
3. She may not even be in danger

As started earlier. If this happens to a 6 year old girl then she isn’t free, she’s helpless, and in danger.

This is all speculation.

Any adult male who seeks out a 15 yo online is a threat. I’m saying that as a dad of 3 daughters. If this was your daughter, I doubt you’d be making the same assumptions.

Im just curious how a man from across the country can get a random 15 yr old girls snapchat. Its not like there is some open database for that shite.

All you have to do is lookup a screenname, add them...hope they add you back and you're in...

Could've been reading books, playing with other 15 yr olds, or not been having a relationship via Snapchat.

Funny how she is innocent and ppl are defending her, but we post 25+ yr old women sleeping with 15 yr old boys and we cheer them on.

She knew what she was doing.

Btw what is the legal age for Snapchat? shite like this need to push for legislation to ensure it's an 18+ ommunity.

No shite Sherlock. It’s obviously speculation and obviously bad, but no rational person can say a 6 year old being abducted versus the possibility of a 15 year old running away of their own free will is the same situation.

The information already released states she was in KNOWN long term communication with this guy.

That’s all I am saying. Investigators are going to treat this with with different nuances than if it was a small child.

She's not innocent by any means.

But this guy is a POS. He should be thrown in the slammer after they catch him.

AND

If she makes it home, she should be thrown in a girls home/bad kids school for a year or so to think about how she worried her parents and loved ones.

15 yr olds don't "play" anymore.

you don't know that she doesn't read books, or hang out with her other friends.

she's bipolar. That's not a self diagnosis. Have you ever known anyone bipolar? Honest question. You just have no way of knowing. And you and Displaced have somehow convinced yourselves that she wanted to give a big "frick you" to her parents, when all we know is that she left them a note that she was leaving.

Yea, regulation of social media is the answer.

holy frick

He's right though. A few generations ago it was the norm for young girls to marry men much older than themselves. Really the concept of a "teen" being a kid did not exist until the past century or so.

I never said anything about a 6 yo vs a 15 yo...you did.

And who cares how investigators are going to treat the situation? Are they going to be less motivated to find her?

What’s so crazy about what I said? I’m not drawing any moral conclusions. 90% of our grandparents/great grandparents married girls under 18. That’s a fact.

You’re exactly right. I don’t especially like the idea of 15 yr old girls running off with men, but it’s been happening since the beginning of time. 15 is a legal age of consent in many western countries. I was driving and working part time at 15. She might’ve even told the guy she is older, girls and women routinely lie about their age.

If this is true, then I hope that they can still stand by their decision to prioritize in this way in the event that someone stumbles over her remains 10 years from now.

One of my former bosses had a saying when something went FUBAR at work: "Fix the problem now. Worry about blame later."

quote:

She's not innocent by any means.

This may be true, but paraphrasing the above: "Find the girl now. Worry about blame later."

I don't know if anyone has posted this, but I found the girls instagram page.

In her bio she has her Snapchat name, her age, grade, and "#runaway"

This dude clearly knew how old the girl was, and I'm not sure if runaway is some sort of song or if she posted that after she actually ran away?
