I've been reading about the French and Indian wars starting late 1700's. George Washington had his early employment in western Pennsylvania and environs, and in October of one year had a problem crossing rivers because of the ice flows. When he and Gist waited a few days, the river froze solid and they walked across.

This was not December or even November. To freeze a river in October...

I discovered yesterday that when you google a country, any country, the first bit of information that pops up is the C02 emissions per capita
