Off topic but I flew into San Francisco tonight and stopped to get dinner on the way home from the airport. While I was in the restaurant (30 minutes) my car was broken into and all the luggage was stolen.

By almost any metric, SF beats any city in Louisiana
Wouldn't cost of living be the most fundamental of metrics?

The annual report says a family of four in San Francisco, San Mateo and Marin counties that earn less than $117,400 are "low income."
A family of four? Yeah no shite, I’d consider that low income for a lot of places. I make more than that and am unmarried with no kids. Can’t imagine supporting a family of 4 on that, especially in SF.

Yes, it’s extremely expensive to live there. Yes, it is a prime example of real estate getting out of control.
And wage and benefits controls have gutted the restaurant industry there.
The tech elite are leaving due to living costs.

San Francisco lost more residents than any other US city in the last quarter of 2017, according to a report from real-estate site Redfin. Data suggests the great migration is far from over.
Last month, 49% of Bay Area residents said they would consider leaving California because of the cost of living, according to a survey of 500 residents by public-relations firm Edelman.

You sure you weren’t in Oakland?

Why is this board so obsessed with Cali? We're just a bunch of socialist hippies over here, you shouldn't care about us.

for a family of four.
They're not saying a single dude making that is low income.

That's not very good for urban centers. A lot of cities are growing at 2-4%.

I live in Baldwin County, AL. It's not better than where I live. Then again, that's all subjective. So...

Pretty amazing considering 117K is a really fricking good lifestyle in MS

Yes, there are problems such as homelessness there that need to be improved. It’s still leaps and bounds better than anything LA has to offer, and you get what you pay for.
So you're saying the urine and feces you'll likely step in on the streets there is of a higher quality?
