Is having to make 150K to be middle class worth it? You'd be living extremely well in LA with that income.

It’s just much easier to break 150k in the Bay Area. I feel like it’s Monopoly money at this point. Recruiters are making 150k total comp. Supply chain and engineering professionals make substantially more. It easily covers the extra cost of living for a successful professional.

The obsession with San Francisco on this board has gone too far.

Yes, it’s extremely expensive to live there. Yes, it is a prime example of real estate getting out of control. Yes, there are problems such as homelessness there that need to be improved.

It’s still leaps and bounds better than anything LA has to offer, and you get what you pay for.

Downvote away.

Actually I can completely understand why someone would want to live in LA, and that I enjoyed growing up there. All I've ever said was that it's not for me at this point in my life.

Of course it is now considered low income for a family - rent is easily $3,000 inside city limits for a one bedroom apartment. Educated people are also paid more than that in most positions, but you can't run a city without bus drivers and servers. The city has horrendous traffic and it is by far one of the best examples of "nice to visit but I wouldn't live there" that I can think of.

No its not. I know people that live there that have advanced degrees and work for some of the largest financial firms in the world.

Most of them commute well over an hour.

Only to talk about how bad it is and how you don't want to live there? Yes.

Admit it. Louisiana has you by the balls. Like an old girlfriend you just can’t get over. She’s fricking someone else and it drives you crazy.

It drives you even more crazy that no one gives a shite about your new girlfriend.
