What’s your problem with LA?
He moved away because he’s too good for La.
Yet he’s infatuated with it.
I think he literally loses sleep thinking about Louisiana, yet he lives in Boston.
No different than Nurse, TH03 and a few others.

I never wondered. I knew damn well that acknowledging that SF just might have some advantages over LA would lead to a plethora of downvotes and arguments.
You didn’t say “some”. You said by every statistical measure. Nobody is going to argue Louisiana is the greatest state in the country. Many here, like myself, is tired of the corrupt government and their policies that only encourage more people taking advantage of the system.

Bingo. I wouldn't live in a large city for a million a year.
Quality of life is very subjective

If that makes you feel better, then yes. That's exactly how I feel.

And like those two everyone on the OT is intimately familiar with his personal life

Liking SF, NY, Chicago, or any other major city is entirely subjective. Whatever place makes you happy, that's where you should live.
I lived in NYC in my early 20s. It was a blast. It sounds like hell on earth to me at 40 and married with a kid. I have no desire to be in a huge city anymore.

Also, everyone's idea of quality life is different. Some people value living in a big international city. Others value living near family or having lots of outdoor activities.
That's why these threads are always a shitshow. A lot of people do things like compare square footage or nightlife when some people don't really care about square footage and some people don't care about nightlife or the "excitement" of the city.
Live where you want to live. It doesn't make you a better or worse person than someone who chooses to live somewhere else.

Paul, I'm sorry I corrected your grammar. Have you found a replacement for your proofreader? I know you liked him, but those mistakes cannot be tolerated, obviously.

Is having to make 150K to be middle class worth
But is the effort to make 150k the same as it is to make 70k in xyz town? For example, does a teachers average salary in SF make up for the difference compared to LA (when looking at something at least remotely similar in population density)

You can add him to the list with the others I just named.

You're right. I did say that. And using words like "every" or "all" is wrong. Because clearly no one place would have a statistical advantage in every single facet against another place. That's impossible.
So I apologize.

Sure, but it's not for everyone. Neither is D.C., Boston or SF.
Some of these people fail to realize quality of life stuff ain't found on some list of high salaries and a bazillion breweries, it's different for everyone.

Exactly. I've done the big city thing before and it's not for me. I'm the most comfortable in a mid sized city.

You're missing the whole point I'm making. Is having to make 150K to be middle class worth it? You'd be living extremely well in LA with that income.
Except that you won't be making that income at an equivalent job.

Just finished my last can of The Streets tonight. Hoping to make a trip to Charlton this weekend, but if not I'm looking forward to the Vermont Brewers Fest next month.
