On an unrelated note did anyone see the Ted talk that young physics prodigy gave?
Apparently doctors thought he was retarded and was too brain damaged to ever talk
Then he started showing up Ivy League professors
Found a link

IF you google Jacob Barnett the youtube video of the Ted talk comes up. Has a really interesting way of looking at the world. He is 19 now. Ted talk was from 2012

They should let him be president of the university.

Negative. Affirmative action or not.
He needs to set his sights slightly higher than southern. He's obviously really intelligent, someone should explain that isn't a good move.

Possibly a college grad at 15? Damn impressive.

Good for him. But hopefully he chooses better than Southern. Smart baw like that will surely get offers from better schools.
However, if he can parlay that undergrad degree at the age to a grad scholarship at a good school, it may not be such a bad decision after all. My uncle graduated from Harvard on the Bayou at 17 and got a PhD from Auburn at like 22 or something.

damn sure is...unfortunately, it is also pretty much useless. the only value to having a college degree is in the money that it can help you earn...and no one is going to be hiring a 15 year old for another few years at the earliest.

So keep getting degrees until he's ready to join the workforce. It'll be nice to have a master when he turns 20.

So is this applauded in the black community? Why Southern? Not a very goal oriented person, is he?

This is how the OT works
They say "The black community doesn't value education!!!!!!"
black kid wants to go to college at 11
then they say "oh but he's not going to one that we approve of!!!!"

I am all for the kid trying to do better for himself.
I bet at his home schooled graduation ceremony his mother is not fighting with his father.
I bet his siblings are not shooting up the house either at his homeschool graduation.
I also bet he knows who is father is which is something rare in the black community.

Or maybe it's just that Southern is a fairly shite college, and this kid could have a future brighter than Southern.
