Aren’t there several accommodations necessary for that time? Like a rolling start and a sticky track surface?

That, and how many times can it do it between charges?
Probably a lot. It'll do 40+ 1/4 mile runs on a charge.

I understand you can't do many of these "ludicrous mode" launches because of the insane drain.
Yeah that's how energy and power work.

The car mags don't generally test them at a (VHT) prepped drag strip like the Plaid was.

I would rather have any of those 10 cars than that lame battery car.

1' rollout is pretty standard but VHT is not for mag tests.

That could be a deal breaker for some. I don’t mind stretching my legs a bit on a long trip, personally. And it’s more than made up for by the simplicity and savings of home charging every night for my daily use. Plus autopilot on a road trip is a game changer. I travel often, used to be in ICE vehicles. My wife has a Nissan Rogue. Any road trip we take is always the Tesla, autopilot makes the driving experience so much less exhaustive mentally.

To each his own. I am not against electric vehicles, solar power, wind power, etc, granted, nuclear power would be much better than some of the afore mentioned options. I am highly against the push away from oil/gas energy and ICEs. We should utilize all available options for energy and transportation.

There is no need to push away from existing energy sources. There is a need for additional energy sources and I think we should be adding rather than trying to replace.

I don’t care how much faster a Tesla is give me a GT3 every day and twice on Sunday. The EV is fast but the rest of the car is boring to me. I like tons of paint and interior options, stitching etc.

The tesla is only practical for daily use.

For most people, witg all things considered, having that tesla is not practical.
These 2 statements are contradict each other

A typical family owns 2 cars and 1 is your daily commuter, which means a Tesla is practical for a great many people.

I say this very honestly and not just hating, either you're lying, they are lying, or they have really old Teslas/ONLY ever charge on older charges.

95% of my stops in 3.5 years are 15 minutes or less.

Just punched into Tesla "go anywhere" planner a trip I am going to take soon.

Tesla Model 3 long range,

Pensacola, FL, USA to Fayetteville, AR, USA
Pensacola, FL, USA
Hattiesburg, MS 10 min charge
Pearl, MS 25 min charge
Monroe, LA 45 min charge
Little Rock, AR 30 min charge
Ozark, AR 10 min charge
Fayetteville, AR, USA
Duration: 14 h (744 mi)

Not sure what the logic is behind that planner. It's clearly broken or has some kind of ridiculous parameter that you stop whenever you hit 50% battery or something.

It says the 400 mile range model S has to make even more stops than the 350 mile model 3.

Pensacola to Fayetteville is about 750 miles.

A model 3 LR has a 358 mile range. So you need one longer stop in the middle (lunch) and one shorter 10-15 min stop near the end. That's about what the average ICE family roadtripper is doing if we're going to be honest.

Edit: That's a 12ish hour trip. If you're doing that trip with the wife and kids you are stopping at least twice no matter what and probably more like 3 or 4 times. The EV needing to charge is probably at worst a wash on that type of trip.

I have talked to several Tesla drivers hooked up to superchargers, at a couple of places where I frequently stop, they are never in and out in 15 minutes.

Plus 15 minutes is a long time! EVs are not for road trips. They are for city driving. I will probably buy an EV for my next car, but I’ll have an ICE car as well.

Teslas are great for road trips. Auto-pilot really cuts down on fatigue. 15 minutes really isn’t that long by the time you get out and the whole family uses the bathroom, gets snacks and piddles around at Buccees.

Because I don’t trust things that are only presented to me in rosy terms without critical thinking. Plus EV people treat them like a religious belief. Plus they aren’t good for the environment. Plus government subsidies and unforeseen consequences.

So long as your daily schedule is such that allows a Tesla to be practical.

Unforeseen changes to your schedule that make a Tesla impractical? Never discussed. Just like any other negative side to driving an EV: Glossed over or never discussed
