First Christmas with youngest daughter and first Christmas my oldest daughter will have even the slightest idea of what is going on so pretty excited for that. Feel like I don’t get to spend as much time with my kids as I’d like so excited to have the next two weeks just me, them, and my wife. Only downer is not getting to go back to Louisiana to see family/friends there this year.
I’ll go 8/10
I’m 31

quote:Not sure why you capitalized "wife" and yet didn't capitalize, "Birthing Person," but I'll let it slide this time.
My Wife and I are expecting our first child in March. Her mom will be here helping to get house in order this week.
Regardless, your Christmases will be exponentially more exciting as birthing persons. Me personally, Christmas is like being a kid again, plus we are Orthodox Christians and our Christmas season is amazing regardless.
Christmas is freaking awesome for birthing persons, and do you know why?
Giving.
As your child grows older, do you know what makes it even better for them and you?
Showing them how to give to others. (And I say this as sorry POS human being, not a saint.)
Nothing is better and more fulfilling than giving to other human beings at Christmas. It brings sublime satisfaction, and it's not a selfish type of satisfaction: it is a Divine thing to give. It feels fantastic. Like a drug.
Christmas is freaking awesome. Give, give, give: Giving is what makes every human being who celebrates Christmas so fond of it. Again, Christmas is freaking awesome.
Also, congrats on the sex and kid. You're gonna love it like a kid again.

Our first child was born in Tucson. Wish I never left. Been back in Louisiana since 09. Decorate a saguaro and have a Merry Christmas.

What is your excitement level and what is your age?
This will be my first physical Christmas without my mom. She died earlier this year. I say "physical" because she had vascular dementia, and mentally, she died several years ago. This will now be my second Christmas without my dad.
I am 50, and while the thought of not having my parents is occasionally sad, I am glad that my mother is no longer with us on earth. She needed to go. Her work here was done. I trust that she is with those who she loved that preceded her in death. My dad was a very accomplished business man, world traveler, tremendous big game hunter, and incredibly bright. He had a very successful and fulfilling life. His work here was complete, and his body just gave out. His death was very peaceful.
As for me, I'm divorced, and at peace. I have two beautiful children, and I have a tremendous relationship with each of them. I have an incredible job, and I get to help people every day, which makes the work that I do very fulfilling. I have three dogs (one of which is my mom's), and I have a roof over my head, transportation, food on the table, bills are all paid, and occasionally, I get to really enjoy myself with a nice splurge.
I'm incredibly grateful for this life that I have. The last 5 years of my life have been very difficult, filled with loss, abandonment, lawyers, and seeing the evil in some people who I was once close to. But I've learned that just because it is (or has been) hard, difficult and different than what I had envisoned for myself, life today -- and tomorrow, can still be a good one.

I'm 44. I love the Christmas season more than Christmas day itself. I enjoy having the house decorated and watching Christmas movies every evening on AMC and Freeform. I always get kinda bummed out on Christmas night when all the excitement is done
This is exactly how I feel. I get a little depressed when it’s all over.

We have family get together Christmas Eve. Kids, grandkids, other family members, and friends will start arriving around 5 PM for drinks, finger foods and gumbo. Kids will start opening their gifts after they eat. Grownups will have a few drinks then eat. Everyone will eventually clear out around 10 or so. A good time will be had by all.... hopefully no daughter-in-law drama will pop up.

I’ll say 8/10.
Crazy sister in law turned a certain age and bailed on my brother a few months ago.
My mom and sister are still pissed off about it and are taking Christmas up to 11 this year for my niece and nephew because they know all that Crazy SIL has for them to celebrate Christmas with is her equally crazy mother and aunt.

Mine is the 25th and my excitement level isn't even that high. These days (I'm 42) I don't really do anything on my birthday except watch my kids open gifts.

My tiny bestie (grandchild) lives hours away so a week of hanging out will be wonderful! I also get to see nieces and nephews because we all trek back to LA for Christmas.

Oldest family cat has cancer and we're giving him palliative care right now, not sure how much longer he has right now. My oldest son is an adult now and my youngest will be 18 in a few years so the magic of Christmas isn't the same as when they were young.
Will be leaving on the 26th for Family Christmases but hopeful for good ice and snow for outdoor activities around New Years.

I’m 38 currently sitting in the hospital with my second. 22 months apart. Raising a coffee for my fellow old dads.
As for Christmas, 10/10. I already loved Christmas (and most holidays) but now my little boy and brand new little girl just make them more special. However, all I want for Christmas this year is sleep.
