From Nick Underhill’s Twitter.

Dennis Allen asked if Derek Carr has any blame at all in the red zone struggles: "We're not really in the business of blame game. We're in the business of production."

Can Derek do anything better?

"To try to single him out is not the right way to go."

Where did that ever come from? I have not heard anyone other than you claiming that.

dude. it's either true that he has said it. or Pete is functioning retard for not playing Taysom a shite ton in the red zone.

I personally think Pete is scared to upset Carr and get yelled at again like he did in the beginning of the season that was caught on video.

That's actually a smart answer.

It seems as though he is trying to let on that most of this shite is the system (ala Carmichael).
But that falls back on DA as well……as he should have hired a different OC during the offseason.

I don’t mind that response. He can’t shite on his players. That Q was pure bait.

But he should have manned up and owned the failures as head coach and said “it’s on me”.

I am sure that Allen pointed out to Carr in the film room that his staring down the receiver in the red zone led to the pick six. I am not going to blame Allen for not throwing Carr under the bus publicly.

That’s the fun part of these threads. DA doesn’t call out Carr, he’s a shitty HC bc he can’t see the issues. DA calls out Carr, he’s a shitty HC because he doesn’t keep the criticism in house

I remember there were times Sean would say Drew didn’t have a good game and he would tell you that- which Drew in his defense did. Here Carr is not acknowledging responsibility publicly and DA is not holding him responsible while throwing Olave under the bus. DA is a shitty head coach because he’s protecting his qb and not holding him accountable while throwing other players under the bus. You can’t have it both ways and honestly the easiest way to divide a locker room.

You can hold someone responsible without throwing them publicly under the bus.

Two wrongs don't make a right. He shouldn't have done that either.

Olave was acting unprofessional on and off the field. I think it was okay to try to hold him publicly accountable. He’s actually played better lately.

If they're talking about something related to Olave's arrest, then yeah that's definitely different. But on the field and locker room issues need to be addressed in private.

DA begged that fricking nerd to be his OC, he failed, and yet Dennis still brought him back…but cleaned house on the defensive side of the ball. Dennis frequently makes bad decisions because he’s a terrible leader of an organization

While true, he still deserves to be called out along with many others. A simple coach statement would suffice, "Yea look, I mean Derek certainly isn't performing to the standards he has for himself, but part of that starts with us and our preparation and our game plan. We've got to put Derek and the OL and WRs in the right the plays for the right situations, and we have not been doing that well enough, so we've got to get better at every facet" instead of sounding like you are too afraid to critique your own QB publicly, you can do so professionally and not embarrass him.

Carr's response pissed me off, not necessarily with his "i'm not going to tell you" portion because I can understand they don't want to say too much publicly that they are working on or want to stop doing so the future opponents don't key in on that. Butttt his initial response was "Ask Pete" then going on to saying some other shite but never took any semblance of ownership and saying "yea look I've definitely got to play better, score board doesn't lie and the red zone numbers don't lie. But I feel like we're close, we're right there fixing to turn this thing around".
