Lose the way the Saints lost (come from behind, take the lead and lose by a fluke last second play)

OR

Lose the way the Vikings did (get skull banged and look absolutely pathetic in the NFC Championship)

Skull fricked

Sucks to shoulda coulda woulda wonder forever what could have been if inches played out differently.

I’m still aggravated by loss to San Fran 2011 wondering if we woulda won super bowl.

Had 49ers skull fricked us in 2011 I wouldn’t even think about it or wonder.

Because the latter validates that if it weren't for a fluke play we are at least a Championship caliber team with 21 players on IR.

Option C, lose by 2 scores. I don’t want to get blown out.

At the same time - Seattle, San Fran and Minnesota playoff losses hurt pretty bad...

Yeah think of the pain from those 3 losses.

Vs the pains from the Seattle playoff loss in 2013. I barely remember the 2013 loss or the blowout loss to Minnesota when they had randy moss back in the day.

I’m still scarred by 49ers loss and this years vikings loss

Option B. Option A leaves a lot of variables and what ifs. If we stopped that play, how would we have matched up against Philly. Brees would have had a better game than Keenum, What would AK & MI do.... Under Option B, there is no questions who the better team was, at least on that day.

If you mean that the Saints lose in Div rd by a fluke end of game TD Vs blown out in the NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME then I would definitely choose the latter. Making the final 4 is certainly a better option to me regardless of how bad you get beat.

In other words, lose all hope after an early score or be competitive late in the game.

I'll take be competitive.

skull f&%ked is easier to get over. There's no lingering thoughts of "if we had just done ____..."

It sucks when it happens, but you get over it.

Losing like the Saints did is the kinda thing that sticks with you for decades. I still remember how I felt when the Saints had that miracle kick return TD only to miss the extra point.

I'd rather lose a close one than get curb stomped. Even though it hurts, at least you know you were competitive. You get skull dragged and you think jeez we're not even in the same league.

Being blown out doesn't create any lasting memories for 20 years.

Miracle plays get shown over and over. Top 20 miracle plays in the NFL!!

Even being blown out in the superbowl won't create a memory like Atlanta's collapse.

This. We beat the Vikings but for some f'd up reason we didn't move on to the NFCCG.

The Vikings never were in it against the Eagles.

I personally choose

The reasoning behind that choice is that this young team can stay hungry. Getting skull fricked may have demoralized this young team. Maybe not externally, but they would be second guessing themselves internally. Especially the Saints young defense.

I agree. Sure, losing like that is more painful, but we came back from 17-0 at halftime and almost (should have) won. That's grit. I'm proud of this damn fine football team.

Prefer to be on the wrong side of a blow out versus a single play letdown. Can accept “they are the better team - we just got beat” a lot easier than wtf just happened.

The way we did. Other than the constant replays, I at least like knowing we could compete and in fact did and we’re the better team other than, as you say, a truly last-second fluke play.
