Why does Ms. Gayle get a free pass on her responsibility as owner?

The Pels and Saints are a disaster and there is no end in sight. Two of the worst run teams in pro sports and there is no accountability because our owner is a really nice lady?

You’ll get some downvotes and people saying they’d rather her than a meddling owner. It’s completely true though. She’s a dogshit owner running two professional franchises like a mom and pop with a bunch of fat and happy good ole boys at the helm.

Weekly threads calling her out from various posters, it because you thought about it you just assume everyone else is giving her a pass?

Also, I can’t speak about the Pels because I don’t care for basketball; but Saints are not the worst ran team in NFL. They may be in the bottom tier, but Carolina currently holds that spot. Clev & LV are also towards the top of any lists when discussing worse ran franchises. Cho & NYJ have to be in the discussion as well

What responsibility does she have to any of us? For better or worse, they're her teams and she can do whatever she wants or nothing if she doesn't want. Whether you watch or attend is on you.

Exactly. Saints success will be a once every 3 or 4 generations event. As for the Pelicans....shitty ownership has prevented us from ever caring about them. But nice lady.

She certainly has a responsibility to those that buy tickets to attend games.

The owner is ultimately responsible for the finished product delivered by any company, whether that is retail, tech, cars...or a football team... the owner has a responsibility to ensure that the product being bought by the customer is as good as it can be.

Now, to your point...if that product is not up to customer standards, then they can certainly choose to take their business elsewhere...and if the owner would like to keep the business viable, then they will have to take responsibility and change the product, or sell the company to someone who will.

What, exactly, is her responsibility other than owning the team? If you are asking if she is a good owner, I'd say she is OK. I suspect she does not know much about football, particularly running a team, and stays out of the day-to-day operations. That is way better than some may realize. I think she probably knows even less about basketball.

Otherwise, I do not know how to gauge her.

In terms of poorly run teams, only Saints fans probably think they are at the bottom. Though they may be in the bottom half, I doubt they are in the bottom 1/3. They may be trending down, though. The next two years will probably determine which way they go.

The Pels are closer to the bottom than the Saints. But I think they are trending up, at least marginally.

Just my take. My opinion is probably slanted because I remember when the Saints had a historically bad owner in John Mecom.

Saints regular seasons under Mecom's ownership 78-176-5 0.301

Saints regular seasons under the Benson's ownership 327-281-0 0.538

Tom - 313-263-0 0.543

Gayle 14-18-0 0.438

No she doesn't.

Look at the Saints history before Payton and Brees. What you see right now is what season ticket holders endured for decades.

Yes, she does. If you deny this, then you are denying basic business principles.

She gets no pass from me! I'm vying for Todd Graves to buy our beloved Saints! He would be a great owner who would make proper moves to protect and grow his investment!

Gayle is an empty suit. She is way out of her league and I feel sorry for her.

Saints are nowhere near having the worst owner.

Chargers
Browns
Bengals
Panthers
Washington
Jax
Detroit

All much worse. There are probably others I missed as well.

Sorry, but a short order chicken restauranteur isn’t going to beat out mega billionaire hedge fund owners or the likes of Elon Musk/Jeff Bezos.

Neither team is a disaster. The panthers are a disaster. The pistons are a disaster.

No need for the exaggeration.

She hasnt done anything too bad yet from what i can see

Should have just ended the sentence there. Truer words have never been spoken. And she won’t do anything because she isn’t capable of making the kind of decisions required of an NFL owner.

Because she doesn’t actually have any involvement with the Saints or Pelicans.

Do you really want a 70-something woman who knows nothing about sports meddling with the operations of a professional sports franchise???

Absolutely correct. It is on her. She has to know she has never built or run anything in her life. She would have to surround herself with good and competent people, but she has no idea where to start.

Owners own things people buy. Who is handing out these 'free passes'?
If this was Green Bay you would have a good question. Same with 'accountability'. Wrong term again. I think for the fans of the other 31 teams I think its a question of supporting the product the teams are putting out on the field or not. That's it.
