Why all the crying about a 3rd?

We just gave up two thirds and a second for Olave. No one was crying then.

I hate the late first rounder because we been whiffing on those lately. That’s the bigger issue.

Bright side, at least he’s in the AFC.

Half this board still thinks we should have gotten some players in the trade

This. The melt would have been worse had we gotten nothing at all.

Yeah third round picks don’t mean sh*t.

Second round picks usually don’t amount to anything, either.

Not the same comparison, but okay.

And I have seen people cry about that trade. Even after Olave has looked solid.

Anyways, for me, it's about the idea that I just don't think it was necessary to include anything from the Saints to get the late 1st and a 2nd from the Broncos. That's just an opinion and perhaps I'm wrong. We will all move on eventually. Let us react and voice our disappointment.

Because a top 10 3rd this year is likely worth as much or more potentially trade chart wise as a mid to late 2nd next year.

So now you’re talking about us getting the late first and then potentially even giving a bit of value.

I also just don’t see why you had to fold to Denver on the third. Let them sleep on it a bit if they really want Payton.

How dare anyone have a different an opinion and critique a trade! How dare they! How dare anyone question anything! How dare the thought of it could have happened without it. You say how foolish the Saints would be to not include it. I say how foolish the Broncos would be to lose out on Payton over requiring it.

BTW, Saints have had some good 3rd round picks.

Because we just gave up a Super Bowl winning coach? Why should we have to give up anything else?

Is this a joke.

I think people are mad that the saints gave up anything. Not the actual 3rd rounder.

It's a 2024 3rd.

Ahh gotcha. I read it wrong. Thanks.

Seems even crazier to give in and give them that then. Really hard believe Denver holds out on getting the coach they really covet over a 3rd rounder two years from now.

which is worse, considering we'll be picking top 5 next year.

I just don't think it was necessary, I don't think the Broncos would have passed on Payton over a 3rd rounder. Depending on how the standings shake out next year that could just be moving up just a few spots from early 3rd to late 2nd, which would mean the end of the day we're left with a very late 1st for Payton and that's it. When we could have at least kept an extra pick for a cheap player which we need as many cheap guys as we can with our salary situation.

It's not like we're saying 3rd rounders are golden geese or some kind of guarantee, we basically just gave away a cheap potentially good player along with Payton in the deal. I'd have preferred taking the Broncos 1st next year and their 4th and kept our 3rd which will most likely end up not being far from where the 2nd we traded it for is anyway, this year's draft isn't particularly strong anyway while next year's is slated to be much better.

Not crying but we heard all season how it’s a bidding war and he is the greatest coach about to elevate whatever team he goes to.

Because it could very well come close to cancelling out the 2nd we get. Then we end up getting a low 1st which is not far from a glorified 2nd. Loomis should have held his ground.

Someone correct me but with the NFL draft trade value chart we got a late round 1st and a third for CSP.
With 2 years left when many said we would get a sh!t Sammi.

Same ol rant.
