I think a more productive QB, a better LT, a better LG, and one more good WR are needed on offense.

One more dominant DT and one more good LB are needed on defense.

If we had those things, this would be a championship year.

A new coach, a new offensive coordinator, a new coaching staff.
3 first round draft picks, 100M extra cap space.

Oh, and Drew Brees

EDIT Groupie to take some of Haener’s steroids

Better OL, probably LT and LG, maybe only need 1
An impact DE opposite Granderson,
Another good DT, but tbh probably good enough here.
Better/more consistent Punter/kicker

I honestly don’t think we are that far off. I think 1 OL and 1 DE is probably good enough

Drew Brees

Is who the current offense is built for, thus setting up every subsequent QB for failure.

There are only two current guys who could win super bowls with this staff - Burrow because he’s Brees 2.0 and Mahomes because he can just create on his own like no other.

Better Oline, QB, RB, TE, WR, HC, OC, & D-line.

If we had that, we would be set!

LT, DE, LG, K, TE......In that order
--LT: A competent LT would Carr more time & confidence in the pocket to be a better passer without rushing himself.
--DE: An end with legit pass rush ability could really open up our D on obvious passing downs. At this point Cam is still no slouch and still has a good motor/hustle, but I don't see opposing OCs fearing him or gameplanning around him. Use Danielle Hunter as an example since he was rumored available recently then sliding Cam inside next to Bresee and Granderson on the other end. Cam & Bresee still have enough size and ability for the occasional runs on those downs too.
--LG: Same as LT, improvement in pass protection or run blocking would be immediately beneficial
--K; Groupe struggling as a rookie undrafted shouldn't be a great surprise to anyone. He's been "okay" but could be much better. Perhaps he turns into that guy, but a higher % kicker could probably have us 6-3 instead of 5-4, but fixing the above positions first should have a greater impact in my opinion
--TE: Have not had much production through 9 games from our 4 TEs, perhaps Juwan coming back healthy now will change that

A dominant DT would really take this defense up a notch. If foskey and turner could get healthy and do anything that would be ideal for the pass rush.

I think Allen also needs to take some game management classes. Some of his in game decisions are really questionable.

LT - Imagine playing the guy you overpaid for a decade ago, and saying he is doing the best job, while the latest of your OL Eval failures is in year 2 and cannot get on the field, not because your line is good, but because he sucks.

DE - Imagine throwing away multiple 1st rd picks in a short period of time on DE's, only to whiff on every one since Cam. Thank God Granderson is a stud, otherwise we'd be picking in the top 5.

OC - Pete only comes up with an inventive game plan when the media and city throws a fit. He didn't want the job knowing full well the amount of work he'd have to put into it, and only puts in the effort when we march with pitchforks and torches. Imagine if we had a young, inventive mind at OC that ate, slept, and lived Offense. Paired with DA's defense, greatness.

I actually think that is enough, with good health, to win the SB. Carr will play well if he can play clean. I mean if Brad Johnson can win a SB, Carr can with the right supporting cast.

Elite talent at two positions on each side of the ball.

I know the easy answer would be elite QB, LT, DE and CB (close with Lattimore)

But the Saints are good at every position but not great. The two once great defensive players in Davis and Jordan are older and slower. Thomas on the offensive side has had too many leg injuries, and Kamara is still very good but lacks that high gear he once had.

Saints need to hit on some first rounders to be elite. Missing on Davenport, Ruiz, Turner, and Penning has hurt a lot.

Offense is setup to go through reads at each level. Not specific to Brees, just specific to a QB that can read the defense and make the correct throw…. You know, like every other offense in the league. Carr is improving and having Taysom in the red zone has helped.

Coach.
More Commitment to Taysom.
Honestly, our front 7 play collectively isn't there this year.

A game breakinf offensive lineman and defensive lineman and we're contending.

The defensive line has nobody aside from granderson, he gets double teamed or chipped on majority of his pass rush now. Bresee is disruptive, but he's still a rookie they don't have grown men strength immediately. Add that and it can mask our poor safety play and free up linebacker to make plays like last year.

Offensive line, never discredit what a single elite offensive lineman can do. Ask indy, drafted Nelson and suddenly they have are formidable running and pushing teams shite in. As it stands, we're asking our inability to run block is actually worse than our pass blocking. That says a lot.

Are you a woman?

These guys are absolute freaks of nature. Much stronger than almost any other “grown man” out there.

A top-tier placekicker would be a good step in the right direction. I think we'd have at least 1 more win, maybe 2.

If this team were 7-2, there'd be a lot more optimism.

Hard to pinpoint. I do know we are currently the oldest team in the entire league.

It all starts with the O-Line.

Across the board with maybe the exception of center we need better consistency out of the O-Line in run blocking and Pass blocking.

That would be a game changer for our offense.

On defense IMO just play better. The talent is there but they are slow starters for some reason. Maybe another dominate pass rusher to compliment Granderson.

IMO this team can win with a top 5-7 defense and a top 15-17 offense.
