Do you think he's really going to leave the decision up to the Texans? I don't think he'll do that, IMO he'll tell them which team he wants to go to.
ETA: also playing in the NFC would be much better for him than going to the AFC.

The Browns and Panthers are in shambles. Cleveland has gone through 3 coaches in 5 years and Rhule is on the hottest of hot seats.
At least the Saints are a playoff contender. He could be concerned about the new coaching staff, but its essentially the same as the old coaching staff. LOL If this Jarvis Landry smoke is real, he'd be a fool not to come.

One thing that could play into the Browns favor vs. Saints is that Stefanski is an offensive coach while Allen is of course defensive.

Try and be objective and it isn’t as clear cut. The Saints just lost their longtime coach who basically created the team’s success and ran the offense. Now it’s a new head coach, who previously failed in his first stint as a HC, and an OC who wasn’t the play caller for the Saints past successful offenses.

They have a pretty strong roster similar to ours. Many would say a QB away.

Exactly. Not like Rhule or Stefanski are world beaters either but one of them is an offensive coach. I totally see this getting dragged out now if a fourth team is added. Watson is on his own timeline and other teams are in better position because they at least have an option at QB so they can wait, especially if the Eagles get involved which I expect.
We currently do not have a QB. If Watson takes another team meeting outside of today, I expect the Saints to jump ship and sign Jameis. Our fans don’t want to admit it, but we don’t have a great track record when it comes to big names ultimately choosing us the last few years. They’re intrigued by us but they go somewhere else for whatever reason. Logically, his best chance at success is with us, but ALOT of NFL players don’t think logically. We all know that. Most of their agents think for them. And Watson’s agent has good ties with the Browns GM Andrew Berry. He’s going to push Cleveland hard because he knows we’re still likely the favorite because of Thomas/Kamara.
I want Watson here but it’s time to read the tea leaves.

Exactly. They have the names now with Cooper being there. Obviously Kamara/Thomas >>> Cooper/Chubb but the difference between them might not be that much to Watson. Their defense was/is good too. Not as good as ours but enough to be attractive.
And while we know the Browns are mostly a shite organization, most players don’t look at that. Coaches do. Not players, for the most part. They want to play with other talent and get paid. Not to mention Cleveland can offer a much better package. I think it’s likely Watson picks the Browns tbh

That’s the thing. A logical person would think this way. The typical NFL player does not think this way. He probably won’t even consider it.

I just assumed Payton is a terrible recruiter. Hopefully Allen can end our dry spell, but it is looking bad for us.

Yeah I was hopeful for a little while but I definitely think he chooses Cleveland. fricking sucks but the final team that comes in usually as the best impression. Look at Clowney, Suh, OBj for example.

True, losing Payton definitely hurt. But the OC was retained, the same OC that spent 16 seasons with Sean Payton in that offense, and called plays for a season and led a great passing attack that year.

I can see Stefanski having a slight edge because he's been doing it for 2 years and made the playoffs in year 1. Allen is still an unknown, but you would have to like the continuity after Payton left (Payton staying would make Saints a lock IMO). Rhule
maybe Watson could get them to .500
Defensive rankings in 2021:
Points: Saints 4th (335), Clev 13th (371), Car 21st (404)
Yards: Car 2nd (5,201), Clev 5th(5,296), Saints 7th (5,410) 12.3 yards per game difference
On average he would need to score 1 more FG per game in Clev, and 1 more TD per game in Car. NO > Clev > Car
PFF O-line rankings: Clev 8th (everyone is coming back in '22), Saints 18th, Panthers 31st
If these are Watson's true priorities, I think Carolina is out and Clev has the edge. Saints will have to sell to him why their o-line is better than last year (injury issue) and what changes they will be making to address. They will also need to sell the culture of the Saints and make sure they stick out over the culture in Clev. The biggest tipping point not mentioned here will be the top 2 competitors in the NFC are Rodgers (38) & Brady (45 when league starts) are at the back end of their careers

I would add the advantage of the small market in NOLA. No other media market in the nfl is as small and friendly as in New Orleans. No better place to rehab your image than here.
