Give Darkwa a shot. Dude was a beast at times, and I think he’d do well with our O line.

I think Darkwa's only F.A. visit has been to the Patriots. Nothing came of it though.

Here's an update from May 9th about Darkwa...

Free agent RB Orleans Darkwa had the stabilizing plate removed from his previously-broken leg Wednesday.
He's going to be sidelined for the next four weeks but should be fine well in time for training camp. Darkwa hasn't drawn a lick of known interest this offseason despite just turning 26 and registering a fine 171-751-5 rushing line last season for the G-Men. The Giants instead opted to sign Jonathan Stewart.

it's for camp reasons to get a veteran in there at the running back spot untill Ingram gets back for veteran experience in the location for the young talent a running back. There be cut and brought back if there is an injury

I do not think that this visit is for a signing, per se. The staff needs to know what is available in the case of an injury to one of the backs while Ingram is out.

As long as he can learn the pass blocking, I think Williams will be more than fine for the Saints.

This is what scares me the most about missing Ingram. People often overlook he's one of the best Pass Blocking RBs in the game.

Yea that's why I think it may be Hightower's to lose as he knows the Saints offence.

Murray would be ideal due to his versatility, wouldn't tip our hand as much when he's in the game. I'd imagine he and his agent are waiting on a preseason injury to max his value and skip out on some of TC.

West is pretty average but capable enough for a short term rental.

I thought the team got a cap break on veteran minimum. Is it over 1 million after the break?

Saints reached out to RB DeMarco Murray to bring him to New Orleans for a workout today, but he preferred not to work out with a large group of RBs, per source. Murray still waiting for right opportunity and believes he is ready to make a significant contribution in 2018.

Any player with 4 or more years accrued signed at vet minimum counts against the cap only as much as a third year player signed at vet minimum.

I think the bigger barrier is whether an owner wants to spend more actually money on veteran players.

On the other question I saw earlier in the thread, teams will bring vets to training camp and preseason and then cut them right before their salary becomes guaranteed, and then bring them back week 2.

So if we want to sign a vet back we can and would do so now, but I think we really are just waiting to see how things go. Maybe a young guy steps up in preseason or maybe Payton decides he will give Kamara the bulk of the carries those first four weeks.

#Saints are signing RB Terrance West, according to a source. West was among the veterans RBs the Saints worked out today.

On Jamaal Charles: According to a source, Charles had a "very good workout and visit" with the Saints and passed his physical, but at the moment a signing didn't make sense for either side. This could be revisited at a later time, I'm told.
