Did I call myself Nostradamus? I don't think so, but I know enough about football, and I watched enough of his Louisville games to know he's not that good. He's mid-level QB that has to be in a perfect system in order to resemble a QB capable of winning games in the NFL. I'm trying to understand what you all see in him to feel so comfortable being happy with this pick. Internet Troll, I'm so far from that, a Truth Spitter is more like it.

Underhill said Rams wanted him. McVey seems to be pretty good at evaluating talent. I think he said Saints were worried Rams would take him in round 1. They traded back and probably would've taken him at 46 if he was there.

Predicting QB success is very hard. Period.
I liked that we drafted a QB for the 3rd year in a row. It wasn't a giant reach. His age is not a problem. His bones no clue. Seems to be of good size and speed.
But I just like the fact that our QB head coach likes him and took a chance on him. That's it.

Underhill is a known pumper carrying Loomis’ water for access to information.
If Shough was really in high demand they would’ve traded back into the first round to get him and the 5th year option.
Nobody did which tells us everything we need to know.

They just signed Stafford to a big extension. So the plan would be for him to sit a few years and take over when he’s pushing 30? That would make sense if he was 21 or 22. Not 26.
Again, another example of why you don’t burn a top 40 pick on a 26 year old qb.

So he's a good get, a good qb by them at that point in the draft at 21 years old but not 25 is what you argue.
Funny that.
So Denver screwed up by picking Bo in the first.

A good get for the Rams? Who have Stafford? Of course not, I just said he’d be pushing 30 by the time he woukd start for them.

Denver didn’t have a qb. They were desperate for one. Rams are not. Totally different circumstances.

Bro, they had studied and analyzed every game of his and every other draft prospect prior to this draft.
Naw. It's just understanding the odds
He's the 3rd oldest QB ever drafted. Guys around his age have a very low % of working out.
He didn't actually start that many games in college which, again, puts him in a tier of low % chance of succeeding.
Then there is the injury history and lack of production when he did play.
He has multiple variables that severely decrease his % chance of success and basically no variables that increase it. Using a top-50 pick on that sort of a prospect is -EV.

If the Rams were really worried we were taking Shough in the 1st they would’ve known we were likely to pick him at 40.
Which begs the question…if the Rams were really interested why didn’t they trade up?
The answer is they weren’t all that interested.
Shough is 6’5, 220, strong arm and runs 4.62 40. Elite measureables, seemingly smart guy.
Why did everyone pass and he fall to 40? He’s old and not tough. Panic in the pocket like Jim Everett. It’s a bad pick.

This “AFC exec” is really just some ESPN intern making shite up to fill space and passing it off as a story. Or more likely the intern just typed crap into Grok. I mean, it’s so secret we can’t name the “exec”! ESPN is Beto d trash.

Bo Nix is a smoke and mirrors QB.

Todd McShay said the same thing about McVay liking Shough and potentially taking him in the 2nd to learn for a year or two under Stafford. Albert Breer told Ryan Rusillo on his podcast that Kevin Stefanski was a Shough guy, and the Browns could've picked him before us in the 3rd if we'd passed in the 2nd.
Historically, the odds are very much against a 2nd round QB. But to argue the NFL didn't see Shough as a 2nd or 3rd round talent is just nuts. In this draft, where we were picking, he was probably our best bet outside of the top 10. Some may like Dart more, but that's personal preference rather than a real difference in them as prospects.

The biggest issue for me was not the way he played but how often he did not.
2021: Broken left collarbone (missed ~8 games).
2022: Re-broken left collarbone (missed 6 games).
2023: Broken left fibula (missed ~8 games, season-ending).
Drew Brees was the greatest FA acquisition in team history but there was luck involved. It was not just Miami who passed as several other teams did not even consider bringing him in. And Shough is good but miles away from Brees. I worry about his reacttion to the way NFL DCs dial up pressure.
Analysts from PFF and The 33rd Team said that he struggles t manage collapsing pockets, getting skittish and bailing early. This leads to compromised mechanics, with Shough frequently throwing off his back foot, resulting in errant passes. PFF data indicates a pressure-to-sack rate of 9.3% and an Under Pressure Grade of 58.5, ranking 13th out of 56 draft-eligible quarterbacks, which suggests he is below average compared to his peers. The 33rd Team also says that he can make poor decisions against free runners, sometimes putting the football up in the air recklessly, which could be particularly costly against NFL defenses.

Bingo.
Being the second prettiest girl in Donaldsonville doesn’t necessarily mean you are pretty. It just means you were better than most of the limited options available.
I hope he’s great. But a 7 year college career where he had only one moderately decent season (6th rated QB in ACC)? I’m not ready to say he’s the answer to everyone’s prayers just yet.

It’s funny, it’s almost the same exact stories that came out when we reached for Payton Turner. Draft guys had him as a 4th round pick but we reached for him in the 1st.
And then then stories start coming out that and such team was going to take him if we didn’t. So the Saints had to reach.
