This YTuber is not high on it

Not sure why this popped up on my YT feed as I'm not a Saints fan, but raised a few interesting points. The Saints were Top10 in Total Offense, Total Defense AND were Top3 in TO margin; yet, still missed the playoffs. He wasn't exactly bullish on DA, which is no surprise. He also wasn't real high on Mickey's deals.

yet nearly the whole offensive staff was fired or took another job on another team.

the thing about Allen and the current Saints era, I've yet to see a game where they get taken to the woodshed early and find a way to overcome it.

The Lions game this past season was a close as I've seen them to doing that. The Saints were down 21-0 after the 1st quarter and the final was only 33-28.

I think the Saints will be helped by their special teams (return game) more this season. Rizzi is a good special teams coach but I have my doubts about the decision makers just like the guy you're talking about in the Op.

Is he ? I would think he’d have some say so in personnel. They picked the wrong kicker and looks like we still haven’t replaced Morestrad who’s outperformed his replacements since leaving.

Trust me then with Lutz at Kicker last season, the Saints record wouldn't have been any better.

I feel like the punter did well pinning teams inside the 20 at a high rate but that also means your offense left food on their plate. But oh, they finished Top 10 in total offense!

Saints Offense seemed more times than not to be stale, stagnant, or stall early in games which lead to a lot of lead chasing gameflow and empty stats.

Top 10 in yards is not the same as top 10 in scoring

Same for the defense. If you have a big lead in the 4th...your offense will just run clock. Slow down the pace especially when your playing the caliber of QBs we were playing and struggling with or flat out losing to

What makes you think he didn't have a say? and just because you don't like the picks doesn't mean they made a mistake.

Don't tell me you think that because the Saints signed a NFL-E pathway program kid who's been kicking an NFL football for a whole year that that's a sign that they have no confidence in Grupe to continue to develop. It would have been more telling if they signed a veteran kicker to compete with him. Smyth isn't taking anyone's job, the Saints are doing the NFL shield business thing by signing this kid and showing the NFL Pathway program is a success. Ohhh but it's a 3 year contract... .blah blah... none of which appears to be guaranteed.

This is so frustrating as it shows the roster was capable of being a contender but thanks to coaching we had like 3 games all season where offense and defense BOTH showed up

To like Mickey's deals, you have to be real high!

Those numbers are inflated because of a historically bad schedule. Most observers would not categorize the Saints as top 10 on either side of the ball.

This is why the team is getting rid of some players and some coaches. Players become problems when they believe they have more power than the organization. Coaches get complacent, especially after after a regime change and they now report to what was an equal.

We are in the worst place you can be in the NFL, No Man's Land.

Not good enough to do anything of note, not bad enough to get a top 5 pick, and absolutely no easy cap space to sign big time FAs.

We are F'd for the foreseeable future.

This is the lowest my expectation has been since 05.

As an old '67' fan that's one hell of a run

changes need to be made from the very top FO people all the way down to the guys cutting the grass on the practice field.

sadly, i see nothing changing, until after we get new ownership, we are back to the days of struggling just to stay above 500 each season

Tell me one player on offense that puts fear into defenses? No, not Kamara. He's done, and always hurt. Not Olave. I'll hang up an listen..........

Agreed.

Not really fun in the Dome anymore in the fall.
