The only way out of this is to draft amazingly well for the next couple of years and get lucky on our next head coach. Unlikely but possible.

Funny how that talk has kind of died out isn’t it.
It can work when you are close to a championship. To do it after you HOF QB and successful coach left is incompetence.

They were right to use it, at one point in time. But as a franchise they should be smart enough to see when the writing is on the wall and they have to reset.

What killed that plan was numerous horrible drafts and their cap friendly contracts, and aging players that started declining before the last 1-2 years of the cap hit. All the picks spent on the DL and OL and they both are still abysmal. They have to go all in on a rebuild and get rid of Loomis, coaching staff, medical staff and trainers. Also, do a deep analysis into the fields at both the Dome and Airline Dr. There is a reason this team is snakebit with so many injuries every year - its no longer just "bad luck."

+1

You must have been watching Fox 8 after the game…Sean Fazande mentioned that something needs to be examined why so many soft tissue injuries are occuring to us as opposed to the rest of the league.

Watched from Seville, Spain, so I missed that one! But, it just seems like an obvious place to look for what may be contributing to the rash of injuries.

Already said it --- 2027 will be our cleanest year if we hit reset this offseason. 2026 will be okay, not as bad as this year.

Mickey should be reassigned since we know GB will never fire him.

Since he won’t Mickey should be tasked with cleaning up the cap over the next two seasons drafting FULL classes to restock the team with young talent. No luxury moves, no more bandaids in free agency.

A coach should be hired with instilling a physical culture on this team with the idea of building for 2 years.

None of that shite will happen because there is 0 percent chance GB can diagnose what is wrong with this team.

The Carr signing I think was done to try and scrap by, win a weak division, and buy them to time to say hey see this is moving in the right direction…only it failed also shined a brighter light on your roster inefficiencies.

You cannot convince me anyone in that building believed Carr was our missing piece

Mickey should be reassigned to just being the COO of the entire Benson operation and have nothing to do with the day to day of the Saints

As I’ve said before, should have started the reset after Brees walked out of a Covid-empty Dome blowing kisses to no one.

Loomis is the main cancer IMO that needs to be cut out.

Can you explain this to me like I am 5?

The Saints basically used a credit card to artificially be cap compliant to the detriment of future rosters because they had Drew Brees and felt like they were a player or two away from winning a 2nd Lombardi trophy. It almost worked as you were a whisper away from a championship for a few years towards the end of DB9.

Problem is that the front office never got out of that line of thinking even after you lost Brees and Payton. You were no longer close to a title and every knew it.......except the decision makers with the Saints FO. You continued to utilize credit cards and pay for players you couldn't afford. You took loans out of future years to pay for one more run with a roster and head coach that would not ever win anything significant.

Now you're saddled with a mountain of credit card debt and nothing to show for it. You're stuck with over extended, refinanced depreciating assets and no capital to get out of it.

You'll suck for years now unless you can start pulling some 2017 drafts to rebuild with cheap rookie deals. And you need to fire your coach and find a QB. Depressing part is though that the people who created this mess still have access to the American Express.

I don’t think they thought he’d be Brees but you could have scrapped by with Dalton for 2/20M
