re: Taysom is the future at QB
Several points being made on here, but not all in one, I think people aren't looking at this objectively. It's also possible to critique his play, pointing out what he needs to work on as well as what he did good.

-FIRST NFL START!!! Nerves & rust. He got better as game went on
-A couple of times he committed to being a passer too much and even got sacked at least one of those times when he was already out the pocket, he should have made a quicker decision to pull it down and rush for a few yards and slide. I think he'll get better at this with each game
-DEEP BALL!!! First one was laughable, ballooning like that I hope it slipped out of his hand or something. It was high & short. Second one that went for TD that was called back was better, but still a short throw. Similar to long throw to Harris against Vikings in the playoffs, he's got to get better at the deep ball. I believe he has the arm for it, just working on figuring out distance & timing. I think he will get better at this, but he needs to if he wants to be legit starter.
-Ball Security. I expected a sack strip since he hasn't been in the pocket much, but fumbling on your bread and butter play shouldn't happen. Hope he learns
-Find your playmakers. For a new QB, going to Thomas was the best thing you can do. Credit to him and Payton for calling the plays
-People saying he "aint the future at 30yrs old" act like we do not currently have a 41yr old QB lol. I'm not saying Taysom is a legit starter, but if he is, his age is not necesarrily what will hold him back
-He made several good reads, went through progression a few times, and made some really good throws. Work on deep ball, quicker decision to pull down and run for a few easy yards on 1st & 2nd down to make the next down easier. And if that first lolly pop pass to Sanders was on purpose, then that was a bad decision on not 3rd down. Looking forward to hopefully seeing him get better each week

Not that Taysom can't have success against anybody, but this needs to be understood by everyone to keep it in perspective. I believe somebody on here stated Falcons were 31st in the league in passing going into the game yesterday, that's similar to last year when Teddy had his best game against Tampa Bay and they were ranked like 29th. Let's hope this wasn't Taysom's best game. He's got at least 2 more games to prove it, and going against Denver and Atlanta again works to his favor.

His deep balls need serious work, but he threw well most of the game.

His deep balls were short but also so high that the receiver could see it, make adjustments, and catch the ball

Taysom is inventing a new form of deep ball

Nah, Ragin Cajun QBs have been mastering this since at least 2012

For the second deep ball, it appears it was under thrown because he read the play a tad late. I think this gets fixed more if his comfort in reading defenses goes up. Taysom has a stronger arm than Brees does today, and Brees could've made that throw if he anticipated it earlier (which we likely would've). Taysom doesn't need to even read it as fast as Brees since he has a stronger throw speed/arm to make up the difference. He just needs to get a tad quicker and more consistent with it.

Definitely the near future.

Idk how far into the future. He’s already 30.

I think He’s a good QB for this window we’ve built with the defense, Thomas AK and solid OL.

Check out the throw at the 1:14 mark. Looks similar to a play we saw yesterday.

This is about what I saw too. I add that as the game progressed I could see that TH started controlling the offense instead of being the fill in QB. There were several throws he made that were like Brees where he had to trust his ability and the receiver and he put the ball right where it had to be.

I was most impressed with his accuracy and ball placement for his first real game time as QB. He has a lot of film to study on himself and I think he takes big strides week to week.

I think next week he learns how to quickly burn a play when its not there.

I do not think he has the big arm we would expect from a younger QB than Brees the last few years but with TH run skills I do not think that will hurt him.

Overall, TH is the future until they come across the next franchise QB without mortgaging the future of the team. He is a good QB that is able to eventually be beat out if a true franchise QB comes along but not by a journeyman QB.

re: Taysom is the future at QB
I'll add that the fumble was a result of the bad luck of several things coming together at once. Notice that when the hand comes in to punch it out, Taysom is leaping over a defender who is trying to tackle him low. Ideally he'd have his other hand on the ball to secure it as the tackles are comng in, but it's pretty hard to leap in the air when both your arms are wrapped around your own torso holding a ball in place. Yeah maybe he should've worried about the leap less than securing the ball but if the punch hadn't come at the exact same moment as the leap, he's probably fine.

We would win a SB if we hold teams to only FGs the rest of the season and Taysom was our QB. His style is conducive to protecting leads and grinding clock (if he doesn’t turn the ball over)

Saints held the ball for 33:14 to ATL’s 26:19. This is how you win games with TH.

He was impressive in many facets, but I think we need to temper our excitement after one game against a horrible team

Holds the ball way too long. It's fine if nothing is there and he wants to run, but he needs to figure it out sooner on in play development.
