The problem with the dome is that the seats move further away from the field the higher you go up. That’s where the new stadiums have the advantage. The seats go up but are designed to still be close to the field. If they could rebuild the dome seating to match that then we would be good. I don’t think that is at all possible though. Would require serious renovations

This is incorrect. The Dome is way steeper than new stadiums. Way closer in terrace of Dome than any other stadium

The Superdome is basically a brand new building. No reason to build another one. You just as soon move the team to San Antonio. Its synonymous with downtown

it is a shame that they cannot put a retractable roof in the Superdome because it is a super fine stadium today.

Sure, for the 5 ideal weather days we get in Louisiana each year which may or may not fall on a Sunday.

Please retrofit retractable windows on the sides of the Dome, it would be awesome to have an open air feel the 1, possibly 2, game days a year that are at great temps.

Structurally the Dome was built to last. The Dome is in the perfect location right now. The Dome can and has been renovated.

Super dome don’t host games. It hosts events. People will forever come here. Quarter, bars, walking culture. That’s all a part of it.

Every Super Bowl city hosts a radio row and media center that fills up a convention center the week leading up to the actual game.

Thousands of media members descend upon the host city. By Friday afternoon the media center is practically abandoned because most of those radio and podcast hosts, plus technicians, producers, and accompanying media are headed back to their respective home markets. They don’t even stay for the game. They come to town for the buildup to the game. Most never step foot in the stadium hosting the game, unless the stadium also hosts media night.

They’ve been polled several times over the years, and the vast majority state that New Orleans is their favorite host city because of everything the city offers, and within close proximity to their hotels.

The Dome will always be updated and renovated because any new stadium would likely have to be built where the Dome sits meaning you have to blow up the building and then build. The Saints would have to find a place to play for 2 years. The Smoothie King Center needs replacing more than the SuperDome, it’s a piece of shite.

This. The Dome is in the perfect location now and has shown that it can be easily updated to meet the times.

The Superdome is a shell. It can literally be gutted down to that shell and refurbished. There is no need to build new.

Yup. It’s an icon. I love that it’s the first thing you see of the city coming in from basically anywhere. It’s a proven home run venue. Don’t know if google is updated, but it says we are tied with Miami for most hosts of a Super Bowl at 11. Don’t fix it if it ain’t broke. And if it’s broke, fix the one you have. Don’t change what is literally the reason this city gets all that income from tourism.

Exactly. Houston is looking at replacing NRG Stadium’s retractable roof with a translucent fixed roof because they don’t use the retractable roof enough to justify the expense of maintaining it. A retractable roof on the Superdome or any stadium in the NOLA area would be a waste of money.

I was in the nose bleeds at cowboys' new stadium. When I was walking the aisle to get to my seat, I felt like I would fall on the field if I stumbled. It caused me some real vertigo. Once seated, the view was awesome considering the crap seat. If the vertigo is normal for others, NOLA's drinking scene could cause issues

Soldier Field shouldn't count as the oldest NFL stadium anyway. The "renovation" in 2002 involved demolishing the original stadium except for the outer facade and colonnades and building a brand new stadium within it. For all practical purposes it's less than 25 years old.

Why in gods name would you want to pay the money to open the stadium. There maybe one game a year that you would do it for. Now more natural light in the dome would be great.

would you prefer the stadium be built in laplace or Hammond? The stadium is in the perfect spot for entertainment. I mean I guess you could do what the rams did and play a season or two at tiger stadium while the new stadium is being built on the grounds of the original.

They would have to play somewhere else for multiple seasons, there's literally no better location than where the Superdome sits.

tiger stadium

I know the NIMBYs would block it but it would be such a cool experience to see at least some (maybe not all) games at Yulman Stadium.

Any hypothetical playoff games at Tiger Stadium would be lit though.
