Honestly, we don't want anyone to confuse this board with the rant, do we?

nola article

quote:

In 2007, the Giants defense ranked seventh in the league in yards allowed and 17th in points allowed. The next season, the Giants ranked fifth in the NFL in both categories. While New York's defense slipped from eighth to ninth in rushing yardage, it allowed 15 rushing touchdowns in 2008 after giving up 17 in 2007.

The improvement in passing scores allowed was even more dramatic. Opponents passed for 20 touchdowns against the Giants in 2007 but had only seven in 2008.

3 things I'll be watching:

1. Personnel changes-who do we draft on the D side, and who gets released (both before TC and during TC and pre-season). How does the complexion of our DL change as far as DT's vs. DE's, space eaters vs. 3-techniques, etc?

2. Scheme-What will be our base D? I assume it will be 4-3 since we're built that way.

3. Coaching-One thing that was becoming apparent was that the D line did not seem well coached as far as individual or group technique, IMHO. I'm hoping we have more talent there than has shown up at times, and maybe Spag and his staff can get it out of them. We'll see.
