Some of the biggest “what ifs”

What if
- saints don’t recover onside kick in the SB?
- what if SDiggs doesnt Minnesota miracle?
- what if the flag was thrown and Brees had his final shot vs Brady?
- what if Gleason doesn’t block that punt during the rebirth?
Saw Berman talk about his most special moment in his football broadcasting career was during the falcons in 06’. This was a moment I’ll never forget watching w/ my dad.
SB in Nola has me reminiscing from the past few decades- what’re a few that come to mind?

I wish Tommy Lee Lewis pretended to give a shite instead of hopping up and trotting back to the sideline like nothing happened.

What if the saints don't draft Robert Meachem. Instead they get eric weddle or chris houston with their 1st.
The 3rd round pick wouldn't have been Usama Young. They wouldnt have signed Jason david from the Colts and fans wouldn't have had to watch the defensive secondary get blown out for the 2 seasons prior to the superbowl. The defense gave up 40 yard plus pass play bomb after bomb

Saints would have smoked the Patriots and Brady too in that Superbowl.
Then Payton probably would have signed a long term extension with the Saints. Dennis Allen probably would have gotten another shot as a HC being a Super Bowl winning coordinator with some other NFL team.
So on and so on.

Players and coaches on the sideline, all over the field were jumping at the refs. The California based ref crew were intent on not throwing that flag.

“What if, Loomis and Gayle made Dennis Allen the highest paid DC and gave the HC job to Rizzi in 2022?
It’s likely the roster and cap look much different today even if we’re looking for another HC.

Not sure how Meach caught a stray here. Saints don’t win that super bowl without him. Weddle doesn’t help in 09 with Jenkins, sharper, and Harper in the field. Awful example here.

One of the most memorable plays in Saints history but, for all its worth to the franchise, the Saints next 20 years are the same without it.
They Still win that game, They still go to the NFC Championship, they still have Brees and Colston and Payton and Reggie, they still have the same backbone to win the SB in '09, they still piss away Brees's best years with historically bad defences.

He needed to flop around on the field and then suddenly stop moving.
The NFL in order to maintain a fake image of safety would have huddled to throw a flag deviating from the script.
Even if suspended, fined, or draft picks lost for faking, the victory makes it worthwhile.
The fans would have permanently made Lewis a hero. As a fan, if the NFL retaliated against Lewis shortening his career, I would have help raise millions of dollars for his glorious retirement.

Yeah it is not an awful example. Saints secondary sucked arse for those 2 seasons prior to the SB. ID k what team you were watching back then but it certainly was not the Saints. That secondary was as s. 40 yard bomb after 40 yard bomb
