I'm not saying it doesn't happen. But that's SUPER rare.

What I'm saying is you aren't taking these guys and EXPECTING them to replace Olave. That's not what we are doing. We are adding talent at one of our worst positions last year.

No, I think it means we were dogshit at WR and they want to upgrade the group.

Olave is the established starter, Tyson is the incoming starter alongside him, depth and deep routes with Lance, return game with Brown.

My take is the opposite, not sold on Vele, Polk, and the rest of the Amazon warehouse crew…

Think it’s clear the plan is for Olave/Vele/Tyson to be your main three receivers that get the majority of snaps.

It’ll be interesting to see how it shapes out after that. Will be an interesting roster battle with Lance/Brown/Polk/Tipton/Austin/Means.

Anyone other than Brown with good return skills?

Way more sold on Vele than Polk

But good point!

Given Moore’s propensity to run 11 personnel (6th most in the League), and the versatility of Olave/Tyson to play inside and out, I think we will see more of Lance than we think. He does things the others don’t and his skill set is pretty applicable day 1 in the league

Just think he needs to prove it can translate. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if we see a lot of him early.

But a late fourth round pick he’ll need to show something in camp and preseason. If he does then he could be starting game one

I've always been of the opinion that we can't offer Olave a high value long term contract.

Nah, he’ll sign a market value deal and we have good young cheap talent to surround him with. His deal will be ending right around when Tyson will be due for his payday. That’s when they’ll move on from Olave.
This. The timing works out great, if Tyson hits. If Lance works out, at least to Rahid Shaheed levels, that's gravy.

I tried to tell everyone that this WR room was in pretty bad shape………..well

Most people realize this. The others are operating like we still have Brees who could take a bunch of scrap heap players and mold them into a cohesive unit.

Olave is the only sure guarantee.

Vele looked solid with shough late in the season before his untimely injury, but once again not a guarantee.

Tyson will come in as a #2 based on his body of work in college.

Brown has value as a kick returner, possibly punt returner. Lance is going to take time as well. Polk is an unknown, possibly not even nfl caliber.

I have to believe that in some way, Olave's concussions had to do with this selection of WRs.

I mean, how many more can he sustain before his career is effectively over?

4 in pro career and at least one in college. He even contemplated retiring last year if I'm not mistaken.

They most certainly want to keep Shoughs favorite WR. Question is new contract or not.

100% They are moving on from Olave after this draft.

That dude Lance is a younger and more athletic version of Olave.

There were plenty of guys saying they needed to wait and only select 1 WR in the 2-3 round. Some adamant that the team had acquired their receivers with Polk, Palmer, and Alford.

Most people that didn't want to draft a WR in the 1st were still ok with taking multiple WR's throughout the draft. I wanted defense at #8 > WR but you can't be upset about acquiring a superstar WR who has more upside than your top 10 ranked WR.

That does not change any sentiment towards Polk/ Alford for me. There is still a world where Vele is the worst WR of Lance/ Polk/ Alford/ Vele. Not likely but still wild potential at WR. And finally clear from all the bums.

Whoever starts at WR game one will be CKMs guys. I thought a vet WR was a lock to be added but now not so sure.

We were always going to look for young/ unproven talent at WR and take big swings. Acquiring Cooks last year and being a giant waste of time/ space should have tempered vet WR expectations for this year.

I also think this was always the plan because we were always going to pay Olave and didn't want to waste money at the position.
