Honestly I think Brown is more for return abilities than anything

That being said, our WR room outside of Olave was a bunch of journeymen at best level players.

I think that speaks more to who was on the roster before the draft.

We were so thin at receiver. Adding three guys gives you cover going into next season for injuries. It gives you depth and leverage in Olave negotiations, plus some coverage over the next few seasons if he and Vele leave.

And Lance and Brown are fourth and sixth round picks. Tyson has some injury concerns and Vele hasn’t shown it for a full season. Delp (if you count him) is a third rounder.

I like all of those guys but realistically they aren’t all going to have the careers that we’re hoping they’re going to have. This way all of your eggs aren’t in one basket

I don’t know if it means they move on from him, but I think they are hedging their bets just in case.

I tried to tell everyone that this WR room was in pretty bad shape………..well

The WR depth chart pre draft had Devaughn Vele at WR2 and Mason Tipton as WR3...

I'd say we needed some guys. The rest of the roster looked like a practice squad

Oh I get that, no question our wide receiver room sucked ,outside of Olave.

However, the Saints are staring at a $25 to 30 million a year salary with a receiver that has been in a few concussion protocols.

.... and the Saints are trying to clear off their books of bad contracts.

That’s all i read into these WR picks beside Tyson. There’s no reason we should be trotting out plumbers when Olave is hurt.

Image of we would have taken Caleb Downs first. We’d be much better off.

When Kevin Austin Jr is in your top 3-4 WR. You know you need to improve the room.

There were plenty of guys saying they needed to wait and only select 1 WR in the 2-3 round. Some adamant that the team had acquired their receivers with Polk, Palmer, and Alford.

Yes because drafting receivers in the late rounds clearly singles you think they can replace a top 15 WR. xD

We had a dearth of talent at WR. We needed another high end receiver to pair with Olave, not replace him. The other guys are there to challenge for spots on the backend of the roster, not to replace Olave.

Now if we go into the season without extending Olave, I think that signals NEXT year we would be looking to replace him, but that also means we have to either sign or draft another receiver very high.

Nah, he’ll sign a market value deal and we have good young cheap talent to surround him with. His deal will be ending right around when Tyson will be due for his payday. That’s when they’ll move on from Olave.

Go take a look at the bums that we had lined up at WR in the finale against the Falcons. We need bodies at the position

I might want to remind you one of the best receivers in Saints history was drafted in the 7th round out of Hofstra.

There have been some very good late round wide receivers, that have replaced high draft picks

It's not a stretch to think that the Saints front office is thinking long-term. You draft a bunch of receivers to see if they can do what Olave can do

If they look to work out, you wont have to shell out a ton of money for a player has been in concussion protocol several times.
