Not hyperbole. In clutch time he is absolutely money—Multiple fourth down conversions on big throws, Lance, Olave, beautiful red zone TDs. An absolute dime to Johnson in OT to set up the game-tying score. This man is something else y’all. I think we’re beyond “we found our guy,” Olave said multiple times during his interview “Shough is the best QB in the league.” This feels like something special

I have no problem with the belief at this point that he's a top 8 ish qb in the league right freaking now.

I think he’s probably top 8-10 for sure. I have a feeling he may have a bit of the Flacco type in him. May look bad for stretches then just gets white hot.

Portnoy has been a pretty lousy QB scout, so I like our chances.

I think the Flacco comparison is a good over/under. I take the over while recognizing that there would be nothing wrong with having a guy at Flacco’s level. With Shough, though, I see the ability to climb the pocket and make accurate throws (even if off platform) that give him the chance to be elite (top five qb in the league for multiple years). The key is getting a team around him in 2027 that allows the Saints to make a real run before his second contract kicks in.

With a better o line and another top receiver, I could see him being in that top 12 range

He needs more consistency before I put him in the top 8-10.
He’s more in line with the Baker, Purdy, Goff, Nix tier, snipping at the Lawrence tier. But if he wants to take the next step, he’s gotta minimize performances like the first half. He shouldn’t look that bad again all season tbh
