We don't get to choose where in the round the pick is. It's whatever slot Denver's 7th rounder will be. Likely early in the round.

This is not true.
I watched him last night on his youtube show and he said the kicker competition as even through out camp and if Grupe had hit the 60 yarder it would have sealed the deal for him but missing it didn't hurt him.
He said if all things were equal he's go with the veteran but neither kicker has lost the job because of performance.

But you implied that we’d only get that because Loomis would “settle” and get fleeced when we could have gotten a 5th rounder for him. Not to mention the ridiculously stupid assumption that we can choose what part of the round the pick would be.
I mean, we’re super lucky we got anything. He was the 37th ranked kicker in the NFL last year, makes too much money, and was gonna be straight up released today. A fricking 5th rounder?
