it's so much better than Mike McCarthy or Jon Gruden type candidates though. I'm surprised not everybody sees that.
Unless you get an absolute lock like a Jim Harbaugh or a Mike Vrabel it's better to go youngish and outside the box.

What fricking year is it? David Shaw?!?
Are we acting like David Shaw is some ancient relic? Half this board would love Gruden who last coached longer ago than Shaw
I don’t think we’ll hire either and I don’t particularly want either, but this is a classic iPod king retard post

It's only condescending if they had a fair shot without the rule and history says that's not the case

Shaw is interesting. He’s only 52 and called plays at Stanford.
Worth digging into at least
definitely is.

Stanford is a hard place to win. Shaw could’ve had his pick of any job he wanted at one point in time. He’s worthy looking into
It’s funny people will blindly accept a Joe Brady or Aaron Glenn as their next HC. What do they really know about these guys’ ability to run a team?

So glad you know anyone on here at all to call pathetic…. But this would be a lazy hire in the fact that he would accept the position and the search is over. Instead of actually finding a good coach through multiple interviews. Don’t get so offensive Rawdog, just go raw dog your sister again.

So we really don’t know what this means.

lol yes I’m the sensitive one. It’s a dumb comment you made. The constant melting on this board is embarrassing. God forbid they actually requests interviews band do some work. Stop crying like a scorned wife and let it play out before you cry.

Per Underhill in a story behind the paywall.
David Shaw is not a candidate and the Saints have no interest in him.

He eventually ran out of Harbaugh’s recruits and drove Stanford into the ditch.

His best team was 5 years after Harbaugh left. The school fired the strength coach before the 2019 season and they weren't physical anymore then the fall off began. The portal and NIL were the kill shot after that.

You mean the David Shaw that syztematically ran Stanford into the ground after Harbaugh left.

I think this is actually a sneaky good candidate. He was a great head coach at Stanford, has NFL associate head coach experience, coached good QBs at Stanford, and called plays.
I wouldn’t mind hiring him at all. This shows that perhaps the Saints front office can be creative sometimes and not just be totally brain-dead sheeples.

What’s the consequences of just bypassing the Rooney Rule? It’s not like the NFL has done us any favors lately. Why play by their rules? Why can’t we just interview the best candidates vs bringing in David Shaw just to waste everyone’s time?

He did a good job at Stanford for awhile.
