Wtf are you talking about? They’re just now able to start interviewing left candidates. A lazy search would be not interview but a few candidates. They need to interview anyone and everyone. I used to love Shaw but that was about 10 years ago. But, my god, our fanbase is just pathetic. Like a bunch of pmsing women in here just bitching to bitch.

Rooney Rule now requires 2 Minority interviews for HC.

This shite is pretty ridiculous.

No mandate on racial % on rosters but we have to have a rule to interview minorities and you get draft compensation if you hire one?

No idea what happened to Shaw the last few seasons at Stanford, but he was really good up until then. I don't pretend to know what coach will be successful or not, so I'm open to whatever.

Glenn is still in the playoffs and might not commit to an interview until he is out or later on down the road.

I don’t think that’s it.

He’s got a couple of open weeks.

I think a bigger issue is that he’s being courted by multiple teams. So, the idea that you could offer and he’d accept may be outside of the “get it done before the Lions are eliminated” timeline.

Keep reminding yourself that this next hire is a sacrificial lamb. It doesn’t matter who is hired.

It hurts less if you realize it doesn’t.

If true, that would get abused.

The rule is, if another team hires a minority coach or front office position from you for their HC (maybe coordinator) or GM role; you get a draft pick for losing that minority candidate.

I assume it's fair to say that Coach O is going to get an interview as well?

Sadly, it is probably just a "check the box" interview to satisfy the Rooney Rule. It's condescending to black coaches, but the NFL needs to virtue signal

Harbaugh set him up well at Stanford. He kept it going for awhile similar to Les Miles at LSU post Saban.

Could you imagine him being the Saints HC, and doing an interview with Buddy D with a translator to the side? That would be pure gold amd must see TV

well, he's young, he's very bright, he's got a broad knowledge base (college, NFL, personnel), relates well to players

I think he could help revamp all of the scouting department which is a huge need

I actually kind of find it interesting

Define young

He's 14 years older than Sean McVay, who has been an NFL HC for 8 years.

I actually like this. He did a great job at Stanford until it kind of fell off at the end, but he had a long tenure of success following one of the greatest coaches in the history of football (which is the next hardest thing behind building a program from scratch yourself).

A bad idea is: Hire newly fired Mike McCarthy

A potentially good idea is: Think outside the box and consider somebody who's incredibly bright and who has had consistent success as a head coach against all odds (Stanford being competitive in Division I football).
