Arch/Nuss/Klubnik are all better prospects than Cam Ward is. Sellars and Allar arent that far behind.

Yes, typically QB needy teams are picking QB’s #1. Especially if someone has a great year and is undeniably the #1 pick.
Also I never declared pick was a waste, I said IF we end up with a high pick and end up taking a QB then it would have been a waste

I think it's the right move, start Rattler then when he struggles put Tyler in. That way when Tyler goes through his struggles and growing pains even the idiots want be calling for Rattler to play .

Well yeah if you can get that guy. You don't just blindly take the 2nd or 3rd best QB because "you need a QB in the 1st rd". If there's a skill position that is higher rated then you definitely take them and pass on a QB.
If anything this move tells me we are less likely to take a QB in rd 1 next year. You let Rattler play a few games and then start Shough. If Shough looks better then you add weapons around him and give him another year.
Rattler was a Rd 5 pick and went 0-7 last year and is now starting his 2nd year. That should tell you that our Rd 2 pick will start through the season and end up the starter for next season. At this point they are confirming that's the plan otherwise it would be a complete waste of the 2nd rd pick. If we planned on drafting a QB in Rd 1 next year then you don't start Rattler.
Starting Rattler essentially means that we plan to role out 1 of these guys next year as well and aren't stressing about making a decision.
You have 2 years to build a competitive roster and give your current QB's a chance for success. Year 3 is when go all in for QB.

This isn't really an insult to Rattler, its the truth. Starting a QB who went 0-7 makes it way easier to not lose the fan base. By the time we start Shough everyone will be focusing on next years upgrades and hyperfocus on other holes in the roster. It also gives people more satisfaction if Shough eventually starts and shows progress. Overall smart decision to control the narrative.

I just don't think that KM thinks Rattler is the guy. This is exactly what I have said would happen since Carr retired.
I think KM thinks Shough needs to sit a few games, and outside of AZ the early season schedule is a bit tough, and Penning might miss early season time.
After the first 4 games Penning should be long back, and you may even see a guy like Moreau starting to prep to come back. He wants Shough to see what its like on the sidelines, to see the speed, to see the adjustments between series and play interaction etc
Shough will start more games than Rattler, imo
