He was demanding his way out of Houston prior to all of the legal stuff

Texans are going to ask for a LOT of quality for Watson. Probably more than Loomis and Allen would be comfortable with losing. Much smarter , and cheaper, in the long term to keep your draft capital, resign Winston, and get him some quality OL and WRs. The Saints were 5-2 before he got hurt, with very conservative play calling. Let’s see what Carmichael can do with him before we send him on his way.
You sound like the only grown up in the room.
I mean that as a compliment.
I just don’t think Winston will take us anywhere of significance.
I still believe you need a top five QB to win a SuperBowl.

Whatever they want just give it to them
You want to play in a dome deshaun, not rainy arse Seattle

Deshaun Watson’s contract would be as such for a team acquiring him in a trade:
2022: $35M salary, $35M cap hit
2023: $20M salary, $17M roster bonus, $37M cap hit
2024: $32M salary, $32M cap hit
2025: $32M salary, $32M cap hit
Good luck

Maybe he thought he could get traded away and let it all calm down.

I don’t understand fans sometimes….they would rather keep a middle of the pack (at best) QB then trade away 3 first (which for a 10 yr top QB would trade every day of the week). As week as the NFC is with QBs he would keep us in the convo for years. Especially if we can keep our defense playing like their hair is on fire.
No let’s keep a QB that throws for barely 200 yards a game….and has a history of making boneheaded plays.
I don’t hate crab legs….I just think Watson can really get this team another ship. That’s what we play for right….?

Jameis blows, my guy.

They're just gonna want way too much.
Like 3 1sts and a starter.
Yea, I’d rather watch those guys play below .500 ball, hamstrung by bad qb play than get the foundational piece and have a decade to build around him

his seems to be the part most are forgetting. The man was playing well, resign him.
And that was with no MT, and limited overall OFF weapons in the passing game.
Our DEF is capable of competing against, and stopping anyone in the league. We have playmakers at every level - DL, LB and DB.
OFF needs a few pieces, but a smart draft can yield some assistance.
I'll take the 5-2 Saints from last season with MT, and WR, TE and OL additions.

Peyton Turner Ceaser Ruiz Marcus Davenport The saints last three first round picks. Would you trade them plus Peat for Watson?
Let’s not forget this was three 1st’s alone

It should be noted that the Texans still went 4-12 with Watson in 2020.
I know their roster sucks. But it's a high risk high reward acquisition for any team.
Most owners/coaches will be conservative. Knowing your current roster can get to 9-8 with a season of injuries vs trading big assets with the chance of getting worse is tough for people whose jobs are on the line.

That's with the 6th worst defense and they gave up the 3rd most yards in the league.

Is it?
Would you give up a payton turner, ceaser ruiz, and say a terron armstead(if he was under contract) for watson?
I know i would. A bird in the hand. Watson is elite.
Sounds like seattle is going to make a crazy offer for him.
He has that no trade clause. I don't see him picking new orleans.

Watson is still only 26. Getting a franchise QB for the next decade potentially is worth it. You have to at least shake the tree and see what it’d take to get him.
