Why?

Ok WR talent

Bad OL

CMC can’t stay healthy.

No let’s keep a QB that throws for barely 200 yards a game….and has a history of making boneheaded plays.

Dude had BY far the worst wide receivers in the NFL and Payton called ridiculously conservative games because of it. It’s kind of dishonest to use both Jameis’ lack of yardage (when asked to be efficient) AND history of mistakes against him. He was extremely efficient and made very few mistakes last year. He’s also shown he can light up defenses while also making a ton of mistakes. He’s honestly kind of an enigma still.

The saints last three first round picks. Would you trade them plus Peat for Watson?

We wont.

At this point it seems like no less than 15 teams are interested. I find it hard to believe we can out compensate all of them.

Carolina offers CMC and its done

What exactly would be enticing about a RB who can never stay healthy?

I dunno...why would they trade Hopkins for David Johnson?

Texans dont have a history of making wise moves. I wouldnt do it but CMC probably still has value in the league

He the highest paid running back in the league and has barely played the last two years. He’s almost a negative asset now with that contract…..

That was a totally different regime. The guy they have now knows what he’s doing. He’s turned down offers for three firsts already when his criminal stuff was up in the air….

Bro you give up WHATEVER to get a QB like Watson. U can replace a guard, a corner, a linebacker, a DE, a RB whatever. You have a chance to get a 25 year old MVP caliber QB you get him. F those picks!!!

So what if they end up taking a deal for less than what they initially turned down?

Everyone can say Houston has the leverage but no one wants to keep paying a guy millions to not play. They already made a mistake by still having him on the team

Even if they are not enamored paying an injury prone guy im CMC they have quite a few teams out there willing to take on watson.

Crazy how I make a thread two weeks ago saying we should trade for Watson when the price is lower and I get 100 downvotes, and now a thread appears saying the saints are interested and it’s all upvotes lol.

Bill o'brien and hopkins didn't get along and hopkins wanted a new contract with 3 years left on his deal.

I get what you are saying but these scenarios aren't the same.

Cmc's contract is starting to lean towards negative.

Of course they will.

They have been looking for a qb since cam newton.

That doesn't mean watson will waive his no trade clause to go there. My guess is he won't.

Everyone is assuming that Carmichael will just magically have Sean Peyton sitting on his shoulder calling plays.

You also aren't just trading picks for Watson, you are taking on a huge contract.

I usually consider myself pretty conservative with what I’d as a fan give up for other players.

But in this case I completely agree 100% because just think over the course of our last franchise QBs tenure, just how many guards, CBs, DEs, whatever passed through the roster.

I’d take the chance here. What would it cost this franchise if it fails? My guess is about 5 years.

This team could easily spend 5 years trying out craploads of mid tier QBs, looking for the guy but only have a 9-7 ceiling while still costing high round draft picks/ expensive FA contacts/ or trades.

Carolina #6 pick worth more than our #18… so there’s that.
