31 is double our cap it and the top teams are spending 46mil + more than us for QBs,
Having Shough and Rattler on cheap rookie deals through 27 is such a game changer for our roster and cap problems.
We have some young talent showing out, we are going to get rid of some old vets, and will have some $$ to spend to combine with next years draft class

I dont take that as a positive. it means there's nobody proven on the roster. im not sure what yalls opinion is on shough though

It’s a positive in the sense Shough looks legit and like someone we can build around.. then Rattler is someone with experience and a quality backup who’s also on a super cheap deal

I take it as positive for the simple fact that it’s the first step to cleaning up the cap; don’t overspend on a QB for the sake of spending on a QB.
But it should not be overlooked that they do have $19.2M in dead money sitting in that room due to Carr’s last minute retirement.

Arizona, Atlanta, Las Vegas and Cleveland in the top 10 is fricking brutal.

We are still in cap hell.

I've been saying for a while.
I am happy having two cheap QB's.
I'd be fine letting Rattler go and bring in a Flacco, Rivers, or even Cousins on a cheap deal as a vet backup next year. Maybe about $4mil to backup Shough.

Why is that funny? I can 100% see rattler being a guy who comes in to start a couple games while a starter is out.
Rattler can manage a game if you have a good team in place. Hes not a guy who can go out and win a game on his own though.

I’ve been calling for this years ago when Brees retired. Go super cheap on fa qbs until we out of cap hell. Sign one year deals only. This shoulda been cleared up years ago. But Loomis doubled down giving Winston an extension and then the Carr contract…

Why? Rattler is probably better than them at this point and is dirt cheap.

If Ratt wants to stick around I also think he is a very capable backup who has plenty of time to get better. If the Saints feel the same no need for a vet. Will they take a flyer on a later round qb to compete for a spot?

hen the Carr contract…
yup. screwed us bad.

He helped us big time by retiring. Much less cap space then if we cut him.
