On the one hand I guess it’s needed though it’s likely to fail miserably, it’s another admission we busted on two picks with Penning and Salvederi.

I’m just happy we didn’t pick up the option on Penning and further tie us in to a horrible trade and pick.

I thought he did well at RT, and now we move him again. I know there are reasons, and better personnel perhaps, but it must be hard to be constantly switching. I hope he exceeds expectations at Guard.

Peat did the same and he had a 10 year career, hopefully he's mentally as strong as Peat was.

Penning will be excellent at guard and it will further exemplify how much of a moron Dennis Allen was

Fuaga at RT is his natural position as well

The majority of the best guards in the league are former tackles. This could unlock a whole new player who could be your guard the next decade.

Even if he develops, which I doubt at 6’7” as most DTs will be too quick to get under Penning as he plays far too high I wouldn’t give him a big contract (we didn’t pick up the option). It was a bad pick then, this doesn’t change any of that.

They didn't pick up the option on Penning because it would lock them into 16mil next season for him.

Guaranteed he signs an extension soon similar to what Ruiz did.

I know you guys hate to admit it but Penning is one of the best 5 O-linemen on this team. They'll try him at guard and if he works out they'll sign him to guard money and have Fuaga and Banks on the outsides.

If he doesn't he'll play RT and Banks will play guard for a season or two.

Your 5 best O-Linemen are
Fuaga
Ruiz
McCoy
Penning
Banks

It was obvious but Loomis thought he would become legendary.

I will enjoy Saints games again, now that DA is gone.

Too tall to play guard is a myth. The eagles guards were 6’6” and 6’7”. If he’s playable at guard no one gives a shite would failure at tackle

The Eagles guards have shown bend and can get low quick. Penning has shown none of those traits, but admittedly when he can drive undersized ends and LBs at the 2nd level he looks effective.

The Eagles have the best OL in the league and both Guards are just as tall

Moore loves big Guards

If he works out well at LG and they can extend him, is it really a bust? I don’t think anyone would hint at Tyler Smith being a bust and Dallas drafted him 5 spots below Penning to be an OT. The difference is, there coaches were smart enough to see the talent would be better utilized elsewhere after 1 year

The difference is they had Tyron Smith starting at LT when he got drafted.

But the driveMAN was standing on the table for Tyler that year. Two years younger than Penning, bigger conference including an outstanding game vs Ohio St. can’t believe they passed on HIM

It’s a big if because Penning has no knee bend, but yes the pick has been a bust because he was drafted to replace Armstead and failed. Our last 2 picks being OTs (we have needs elsewhere) would not have been necessary if Penning wasn’t such a miss.

Coach speak. Let’s see when contact introduced. Moore told us last month how excited he was to coach Carr.

Dallas also draft Zack Martin as a tackle out of ND at 1.16 and he’s arguably the best guard to every play the position

Peat didnt have a 1st round tackle career, but he sure was good enough to play. His utility role moving over to LT for 4-5 games a year with the often mildly injured Armstead was huge during Brees final seasons.
