I’d rather their approach be draft one until you find one than try and force Rattler or Haener or continue taking ones in the 3rd or later that have an even lower of a chance of panning out

They aren't forcing Haener. He's 3rd string right now out producing Shough.

The team with a brand new coach can't give up on a QB drafted from last year with shite coaching and no team around him. You have to at least see what you have and so far he's doing pretty good in camp. We'll see how they look in preseason games.

I wouldn't say there is nothing there from rattler. That Washington game showed that he is capable of getting his team back into a game. When I think of lost causes I think of someone like an Ian Book that just had nothing there. Rattler can rally a team at least

I wasn’t trying to say there’s nothing there. He has physical talent.

Just saying that the types of flashes that allow you to project him as being a starter haven’t happened (yet).

He’s competing for a job only because there’s nobody here. He wouldn’t be competing almost anywhere else.

But if we're being honest, Shough is probably a 3rd or later guy that got bumped up by a bad qb draft.

Because we did the strategy of drafting till we find one. If we hadn’t he’d be competing for a starting job with Rattler. That’s the point.

Saints won't be that bad no matter who is QB. Last year was an abomination.

Rookies QBs are entering the league more advanced and more game ready than ever.

And that was, literally, the selling point on Shough, and why we drafted an ancient rookie QB. Losing a year for such a scenario is largely inexcusable, especially for that high of a pick.

No.
I do have high expectations for Spencer this year.

Yes.

Some people actually have labeled him a bust because Rattler has been looking better in practice so far.

We were expected him to at least give Rattler or Haener a run for their money

I really wasn’t, not yet at least.

Shough had 950 college attempts, Rattler had over 1300, plus NFL experience last year. It honestly shouldn’t be close.

Now, halfway through the season, we’ll see if that changes.

He is 26 years old. He was labeled as "The most NFL ready" which was the only excuse to draft him.

If he doesnt start by game 6 and finish out the season strong, it's a MASSIVE BUST, especially considering what other positions were available at that pick.

This isnt a guy who came out of college after 3 years or even a 5th year Senior like Jayden Daniels. This is a guy who should be well developed and the fact that he looks lost is the most concerning thing.

Y’all are equating age and time in college with experience. He has minimal experience. He started 25 games in college, which is kinda the minimum amount needed.

Unlike you and others I need more evidence. You know...facts barister. I expected Ratt to start the season. I still suspect Tyler to start some games this year. I expect him to be in the mix for #1 qb in camp 26. If not perhaps it was a bad pick. Time will tell not us fans.

You said you expect Shough to be in the mix for #1 QB in 2026 camp….

But what you are not addressing is ….

If Saints go 4-13 , the QB play would be the primary reason for such a shitty record and the fan base will be screaming for a New QB.

The Saints would use a 1st Rd, Top 5 draft pick in 2026 … to draft a Franchise QB…

Then Shough has a major problem !!

He would THEN be the back-up to the NEW QB for several years then either be traded or fade away as he would be in his 30’s by then !!!
