For any of you who used to listen to Buddy D's show on WWL AM after the Saints' games in the '90s & 2000s, I have a few questions.

1. What was the name of the guy who billed himself as the "President of the Down to Earth Club" as a pessimistic response to Bubba & the Magic Carpet Riders?

2. Have any of those frequent callers (Dr. Kavorkian, Sid from Jefferson, Bubba & others called in since Deke & Bobby took over the show? I've never heard them.

idk. But i know that the term "squirrels" definitely needs to make a comeback. I propose this board as a starting place.

ETA: Sid in Lakeview, aka: Sid in Jefferson is retired........ (for good).

ETAA: Wait, that was censored? I didn't type anything objectionable. LOL

don't know, I recall "sid" (from Jefferson I think) was a frequent caller as well as "Abdul" the tent maker and that's about all that comes to mind as "regulars"

Buddy D did a great job. I wish he could've lived through the '09 season. At the least, he deserved 2 more yrs to see the 1st trip to the NFC title game.

I loved Buddy's show, but I didn't realize how great he was until listening to his replacements.

Abdul the Tent Maker was the first one that came to mind.

Buddy D wasn't Hap, but his show was entertaining

Danta Stallpepper stayed having a torn knee ligament.

Buddy D was a daily communican, he went to church every day.

Yes!
But we need a clear definition of the term.

I was a young kid at the time, but we definitely listened to Buddy D on the ride home from the games on Sundays. Abdul is the only one I vaguely remember. Miss those days and that show.

Ha!

A "buddy" of mine and I call each other squirrels....
But he calls me a squirrel for criticizing the Saints which is totally wrong.

Buddy called Saints fans squirrels when they made excuses for the Saints organization or couldn't admit they did anything wrong etc.

For years after Buddy took over the show was still called Hap's point after. Friends used to call and say hey Hap, for a while Buddy politely corrected them but after a while it really riled him up lol.
Loved listening to that show.

WW, WW, WWL

I use to ride around in my car and listen to The Point After in the mid to late 80's.

I don't know the answers to any of these but man, those names brought back some memories
