I'm not a fan of the QBs this year but if Willis slides to us at 19 I wouldn't melt. I would melt if we traded up for one of the QBs.

If you really think that none of these QB will be bonafide starters in the league you are not very apt.

I think this really depends on what you consider a bonafide starter and if you would be good with rolling with someone that will do enough to not lose you to many games. IMO, I don't think anyone in here has a career trajectory better than Winston, and I think Winston can be in the 10-12 range.

I think the better play is roll with Winston, build around him. And if it turns out he's not the guy, or an opportunity falls in your lap next year; then you make a change then and now that guy has a better team around him. But, I wouldn't be upset if the guys in the front office & coaching staff that actually do the work think otherwise.

I don't think the Saints are going into this draft intending on being aggressive to get a QB. But if we get to 16 and a QB they really like is still available, I think they are going to have a very difficult time turning that opportunity down.

We’re gonna pick Pickett and you’re gonna love it

If we get him with the 49th pick you're probably right.

but with the 16th or 19th, nah.. they will have yet again snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

Very realistic chance that both the top 4 WR and top 4 OT are gone by our first pick

Which makes the trade we made without even knowing the board to be...interesting.

I don't want to draft a QB this year.

But I know that if we do I will allow myself to be convinced he's the next Peyton Manning.

Jameis is on a 2 year deal. So you are going to have to either commit to him long term next year, or the year after, or move on. If the Saints are a solid team next season their first round pick would be in the 20's...except the Saints have already traded that pick. Therefore even if Jameis is terrible this season the Saints won't be able to do anything about it in the draft next season.

Point being, a decision at QB is still going to have to be made sooner rather than later. Either Jameis long term or someone else. If there is a QB you have with a 1st round grade siting there at 16 or 19...you have to consider it.

You guys better get prepared for the chance we take Desmond Ridder

If SP was still the coach and I had to pick one player to bet the Saints to draft, it would be him...

Only kicker to this would be if they got back a first on a Sean Peyton trade. But that trade would likely be with the Cowboys and they will likely have a decent enough season to be picking around 15 to 20 next year so not a great spot to be looking for a QB.

I think if Jameis doesn't progress they are in the free agent market for a QB.

Because Mahomes is actually good, so no this isn't a good post.

None of this considers that none of the 2022 QB's even hint at being franchise quality QB's. Picking a QB in the first round just to pick a QB in the first round makes little sense when there's a great chance they they won't be any better than what you have on your roster today.

The smart move is pick the BAP at 16 & 19 and don't try to "fill a need". Chances are high that BAP will be at a position that will help this team more than a reaching for a QB just to say you have one.

I just don't see any of these guys being better than what we have. If Strong or Howell were still on the board 4th round maybe........

I really hope Willis and Picket are gone by pick 16, taking away the urge to draft them, while sliding two studs down to us.
