Said something similar last week and got downvoted. I think it's time for a change.

That would be dumb as frick and the opposite of the Saints' best interest. You'd be forfeiting a high draft pick for no good reason

What would be dumb as frick would be letting payton walk for peanuts. While payton was coach here 99.9% of fans wouldnt have entertained trading payton for a 1st round pick. Its a losers mindset if you let payton walk away without getting a hell of a deal. Lesser coaches have been traded for more.

Paytons trying to make sure he got picks to work with…. But loomis should be fine with letting him sit in the tv booth for 2 more years unless he gets a deal commensurate with paytons standing as a coach. That would be like trading a top 5 qb in the league for a 1st rounder.

He raises the price to the point where Carolina passes. I thought that was obvious.

Letting him sit out his contract is wasting an asset. It's absolutely asinine.

Why would this have ever been the case. You would want the team you are joining to still have as much as possible. So I'm sure he knows he is losing a #1, but he doesn't want to lose much more.

I have also had my suspension that Gayle and Loomis also would not handcuff him with all their talk of what he has done and wishing him well.

Would you have traded payton for a mid to late first rounder a year ago before he stepped down? What do you think it would take to get andy reid from KC?

Whats asinine is willingly getting ripped in a trade.

I’d trade his rights to some team he doesn’t wanna go to and let them figure it out

This is absolutely Payton trying to drive his trade value down. It'd be best if Loomis made a public statement along the lines of "Sean is speaking from a place of some miscommunication. My concern is securing the best value for the New Orleans Saints--we have not "shown our cards" and we'd have to be incredibly naive and incompetent to tell the world our baseline asking price. We've got a good idea of the "least we'll take", but we're not advertising that or even sharing that with potential trade partners. We think the world of Sean, and we're going to ask for the world in exchange for his rights."

Of course Sean would want his next team to give away as little as possible. Unlike Loomis and Gayle (seemingly), Sean isn't concerned about making friends or respecting feelings--he's left his first wife and mother of his children for younger arse, he's left his "football first wife" for greener pastures; he's an apex predator and he'll gladly rape the Saints to maximize his future success.

Completely irrelevant scenario. That isn’t the situation we’re in. Sean has stepped down and is no longer the coach, and won’t be ever again. We are getting nothing from him right now. And if you were in charge, we’d never get anything. Completely insane. You’re talking about “getting ripped” but are legitimately advocating for a path forward where we get nothing. Nuts.

Lot of dumb-dumb's in the Louisiana sports fandem, unfortunately. Lots of ego and pettiness to, apparently.

Obviously we have to want Payton to become a Head Coach this offseason because of the compensation, but it would be funny if he was not selected after all the yapping he has done.

would be foolish if you thought these 2 haven't spoken about what the saints will be ok taking in this trade.

At the same time, im not sure we want a top first in this years draft. CAP is a disaster.

The Saints have said multiple times throughout the years that they wouldn't hold Payton hostage. Meaning if he wanted to leave for another team he could.

At some point you have to be sorta vindictive.

Say you worked for Kmart 20 years ago and was was their CFO, under contract for 3 more years and Walmart came along and said we want to hire you with a pay raise and all the resources you wasted the last 10 years at Kmart trying to get a profit. But we are only going to offer Kmart the bare minimum even though they need xyz to compensate for you.

Walmart ( the new team) and Kmart (the saints), where do you see them in 5 years?

Walmart is Superbowl champs at least once and the saints are bankrupt ( talent wise, still recovering from bad picks, wasted traded pics, bad contracts, etc..)

So are some still blowing Payton and giving him everything he wants?

He helped us win OME Superbowl, detach your emotions, it's business

See by the one downvote so far that someone doesn't have a brain, just Payton's cock in their mouth or arse.

Would you rather have a team to watch next season, defying Payton's comments on trade, or not have a team to watch, giving into Payton's hopes?

The team he goes to is giving up the pick for him. Hes gonna have a lot of say with his draft picks wherever he goes. You can only get made at Loomis if he gets played and at any rate if its pick 12 down i want a 2nd rounder also
