So after his 2-3 contract years pass with us is he free and clear to go wherever?

if dallas is willing to wait then the saints should trade him elsewhere. not sure who would take it on if he's retired.

If he was a player, he would have to complete the remaining contract that was left prior to leaving, so 3 years, IIRC.
I don't know if it's the same for coaches
