Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter
There are many things Sean Payton could do this year; coaching an NFL team is unlikely to be one. He remains under contract to New Orleans for three more seasons. He wants some time to decompress, and the Saints would want compensation if they ever were to relinquish his rights.

Man, I kinda feel like I don’t need a really long explanation why Payton wants to take a gap year.

How I feel. He's rambling about 2005. I just want to hear his thoughts and reasoning.

I appreciate what he did for the Saints, but I am going to hate his fricking guts when he is coaching Dallas in 2023

So what?

We got 15 years of the best coach we’ve ever had and a top 20 guy ever.

We were lucky to have him for as long as we did.

This team is set up to compete with minor adds, with an elite defense, and he steps away from that?

Okay Dallas, I’m gonna need 3 of your receivers, 2 first round and 2 second round picks

I do believe it needs to be 2 firsts and a WR for starters.

i am so appreciative of everything he did, but how can you not see this as him quitting on the team, the city, the franchise?
