re: Neither QB may work and that's ok

Look at the situation this way …..
Saints tried to draft the Ole Miss QB (Dart) in the 1st rd of the draft but the price was too high to trade back-into the 1st round after drafting Kelvin Banks at #9. The Giants traded back into the rd and drafted Dart instead of Saints.
After missing on Dart…….
Because Moore knew he didn’t have a quality experienced starter at QB already on the team…..he then decided to draft a 6 year college QB (Shough) they HOPED would be more Advanced and could come into training camp and blow away Rattler and Haener….. showing promise for the future.
Now…. Moore is getting a look at ALL
3 QBs in training camp. Apparently, Shough is NOT as advanced as hoped; based on feedback coming out of camp. Also…Don’t think they like what they see for the Short-Term of this coming season from all 3 QBs.
Looking Forward….The QB position combined with the rest of the Team talent… or lack of Team talent…on the Saints roster (backed-up by Vegas and other experts) have deemed the Saints will be one of the worst… if not THE worst ….team in the league per this coming season. Look it up.. it’s all over the internet.
I have seen the Saints 2026 NFL draft position projected from 1st overall pick to pick #5 in the 1st rd.
If the Saints production is only 2-4 wins and they land in the Top 5…. and assuming that crappy record figures prominently on the QB lack of productivity……
Then Moore will be Drafting a QB in top 5 in 2026.
He really has no choice if a potential Franchise QB can be drafted versus the 3 mediocre QBs he currently has on the roster. Remember… Moore is an OFFENSIVE Coach.
I would have preferred they use the #40 pick (2nd rd pick) on the highest rated player at TE, CB or DL …. rather than spend it on Shough… but what’s done is done.

Stfu retard, ya drooling on your keyboard again.

There is nothing wrong with them going after a QB at 40 if they believed he could be the answer. And if he ends up being a dud and you find yourself in position to grab a QB in the top 5 that you think will be that guy; then you have to pull the trigger.
BUT, me response was directed at the statement that they took Shough at 40 when their real target is a top QB next year. Basically stating they wasted the 40th pick for a 1 year rental when you could get a vet for the same amount of $$$ while also using your asset for a position player

McShay reviewing our picks and he was saying in the right spot we may look back in 2-3 years and Shough may be considered the best or 2nd best QB in this group
He was the the third qb selected high in the 2nd round. That’s really going out on a limb saying he might be the 2nd best out the class…

I’d hope that Shough was their target, and that’s what I heard before the draft. He was their #2 ranked qb.
So their intention is for him to be the franchise qb. I hope it happens but I had him as a 4th rounder. I don’t think they worried about next years draft or qb class.

Chief…..
They DID waste the 40th Pick !!

Personally, I don't think Shough will make much impact, if any. I just don't see how a guy who's best performance in SEVEN years of college football was being the 5th-6th best QB in the ACC is going to be a good NFL QB.
I think this is an unfair assessment. Louisville was really good last year and probably would have been shite without him. His defense gave up 10pts in 45sec in the loss against Stanford and they fricked up against Miami in a wild game. They win those 2 and they have a chance at a bye in the CFP.
If you look at 247sports 2018 HS QB rankings the list includes:
1. Trevor Lawrence
2. Justin Fields
10. Tyler Shough
49. Will Levis
50. Brock Purdy
53. Zach Wilson
56. Michael Penix Jr.
No one is talking shite about Penix Jr. who is the exact same age and only has (3) more games started. There's nothing so far that would make me view him as a bust > a late bloomer. He was seen as more talented than both Penix and Purdy by a lot and was way closer talent wise to Lawrence/ Fields than those guys.
To know all that and write him off while also accepting that the dude had a playoff level college team the 1 year he was healthy is crazy to me.
I personally think his floor is a mediocre starter. Knowing its a cheap contract and that we have nothing to lose just makes me more excited to see how it plays out.

Saints Target was Dart of Ole Miss but the price was deemed too high to get back in the 1st rd….. this came from Deuce McCallister on the radio during the draft and I heard it myself.
Saints continued to wait and watch Dart slide ….then the Giants jumped back into the rd and paid the price with draft picks.
Will Dart be better than Shough… I don’t know ……
but Saints WANTED Dart over Shough !!

They also wanted ward over shough. Let me know when you have a point.

My point is……
I’m not interested in what you have to say.

It’s all over the internet… because if it is on the internet it has to be true!

Mr. Midget…..
Stop looking at my knees and raise your stubby head so you can see me.
Why don’t you put your Star Wars Toys back in the closet and do your homework before bedtime.
I’m sure your mommy will be entertaining a lot of men tomorrow and you don’t need to keep her up all night….
She’ll need all her energy tomorrow !!

That's very plausible. And if so, I'm glad the Saints didn't pay that price for a guy (Dart) who still had his own questions of whether he was worthy of a first round pick.
If the Saints stink something rotten this year, then they will be picking in the top 5 of the draft...where the QB class is expected to be larger and higher rated than last year's draft class. They will also have actual money to try to build around that new QB because they showed restraint ahead of the 2025 season and just wrote it off as a wash before the season started.
That's not the worst spot to be in if you are rebuilding.

Rattler is like picking up a lottery ticket on the ground.
Shough is like buying one
Not only is it ok - it’s relatively expected that neither will hit, but at least we have skin in the game for finding a qb…. And can move on quickly if it goes that way.

Shough is 8 months older that Penix. No one “talks shite” about Penix because he was a Heisman runner up in ‘23 and finished 8th in ‘22. He led the nation in pass yards in back to back seasons and threw 30+ TDs both years. No one talks shite about him because he dominated like an older college QB should. If Shough even sniffed the resume of Penix he would get more benefit of the doubt.
Brock Purdy led the Big 12 in pass yards twice and comp %
Who saw Shough as more talented? He played 7 seasons for three different colleges and has nothing to show for it. He was the 4th or 5th best QB in the ACC last year

Wasn’t Brady a 7th round pick ?

I loweredmy expectations for this season quite awhile ago. If we’re competitive I’ll be pleasantly surprised…

Yea I’m fine with the numbers, but I would never take a qb in round 2 again after this contract. Either the talent is first round level or wait until 3 or after.
