Man Drew Brees really made Sean look good

Someone else here said it. They needed each other. He hasn’t proven he can win without elite QB play like Shanahan has though. He’s a really good coach but not a top 5 coach like we thought.

Or is he purposely tanking so he can draft the qb he wants? ?? Sean playing chess while rest of league plays checkers. I mean the dude is basically putting the players on the team for sale if not just cutting them out right.

Might be, would be smart to tank (depends on guaranteed money for Wilson). But then why’d he trash the previous coach? Didn’t sound like a guy tempering expectations…

I think it’s the opposite.
He knew he was in trouble. Denver was a disaster when he arrived. All of their money is in a player that is now below average.
He was trying to set the stage of who gets the blame.

I said it on here when a few people really wanted Wilson. But he showed signs of falling off in Seattle. Not all QBs last into their late 30’s like Brees and Brady.
I think Sean also lost some of his fire years ago. You could kinda see it with us the last few years. That being said, I’d still take him over Allen everyday of the week.

Guess we forgot his winning record with a season of Winston, Simian, Hill, and Book starting. And practice squad level receivers starting. I’d say that’s pretty impressive in hindsight.

I think he really messed up by taking the Denver job. RW is not DB. I think he is gonna fizzle out in Denver and won’t be a HC in the nfl after this ends. He doesn’t have the flexibility in Denver he had in NO. He could have stayed in NO and been mediocre for 10 years and not been fired. He will be back in announcing and won’t get another opportunity

Looks like they are locked with Wilson through 2025.
2024: Fully guaranteed salary, and $18.4M bonus money: Cap Hit $35.4M
2025: $37M salary is fully guaranteed in 2024; so unless they want an $85M dead cap hit in 2024, he's there through 2025 w a $37M salary, and $55M cap w/ bonuses

My hot take here is that Pete Carroll is an insanely good coach, especially QB coach. Maybe Russ was never that good, but Pete hid his flaws and set him up for success. My proof, look at what fricken Geno Smith is doing in Seattle.
